Well, my expectations for this album have dropped a bit. I'm dreading Revolt. I didn't like the brief snippet of Queen-y vocals in Defector and it sounds like they're gonna be fairly prominent, which is a shame 'cause the instrumentals sounded pretty decent. Aftermath is a bit of a vague description, could be decent, could be awful. Drones sounds interesting though. Maybe like an a capella Soldier's Poem? -
Assassin? That's probably my favourite use of his layered vocals in their discography.

I like the font. It seems blurry though, especially when it zooms in, as if it's low quality? Doesn't really suit the band/song either. 'gutless and mean' though...

I've seen this said quite a lot in the last few years and I really don't get where it comes from. In all my time here, I don't think I've ever seen someone directly say they want OOS/Absolution 2. In fact, when the band were hinting that this album would take a lot of inspiration from OOS and try to return to that sound, quite a few people were adverse to it if anything.

I really like it, loved the Dead Inside artwork too. This album cycle has the best single artwork they've done (other than a couple of the OOS and BHAR ones) imo. Shame neither really fit the song though, aesthetic-wise.

It's 100% 'disavowed'. Not sure how someone can hear something else there. Says a lot about the song when a bassline that bog-standard is considered the highlight.

There's something oddly satisfying about the whole 'greatest guy' thing. On paper, it looks like pretty shit lyricism but I like it when I hear it in the song. My favourite so far is probably 'You are on your own/Lost in the wild', mostly just for the way Matt delivers it tbh. I like the animalistic connotations with 'the wild' as well. Purely lyrically speaking though, 'Absent gods in silent tyranny, we're going under/Hypnotised by another puppeteer' is probably the best so far. -

I'm usually like that, lyrics are a big part of getting enjoyment from music for me. With Muse I don't really care though, unless they're exceptionally shit ('brainwashing children to be mean' etc.) I think maybe I've just been used to Matt's meh lyrics for so long that I'm indifferent to it. When some lyrics do pop up that I like, I just see it as a bonus.

I know what you mean when you say Starlight's dsappointing live. It feels like the heavier parts really lack the energy they used to have. I really can't see Mercy being better though.

Still no idea what the fuck Matt's saying in the chorus other than the obvious lines.

All three of those will probably be played as well. It'd make sense to play Mercy and give it at least some form of promotion before it gets released, so I'm guessing they aren't gonna play it because. I'm still holding out hope for Reapers more than anything.

To be fair, did you lot really expect anything else? This set was always gonna be mostly hit-focused. On another note, Matt's vocals are sounding pretty on point tonight
