    All the songs released so far have pretty much been 3-piece rock though, with Dead Inside and Mercy having some pop sensibilities in there as well. Psycho, DI, Reapers (and most likely The Handler and The Globalist) all have fairly dark subject matters too. I'm not really sure what you were realistically expecting.

    Making an album full of songs like Yes Please and Agitated in their late 30s would probably sound fucking tragic.

    Whenever I see someone mention the word 'poll', I just think of the setlist polls from 2010. Dark times, man.

    Feeling Good's a good cover, it's just a bit out of place on the album.

    Hopefully I'll be able to be a little more level-headed this time. When T2L first came out, I think the fact that it came after TR and it's pretty mediocre tour made me think it was way better than it actually was. I remember saying it was my 2nd favourite album after OOS So far, I think I've been able to rate the Drones tracks pretty accurately though. As things stand, I'm expecting it to be a bit better than TR and maybe on the same level as Showbiz.

    Reminds me more of the Hot For Teacher intro tbh. I was thinking about this last night actually. I used to put Showbiz on par with TR but, thinking about it, the high points of Showbiz are a bit better than the high points of TR and there are more of them. Both albums probably have the same amount of shit songs for me (Overdue/Guiding Light, Escape/USOE, Fillip/Resistance).

    I'm gonna say stream on Monday afternoon and a leak either Sunday night or early Monday morning. That might be mostly out of hope though 'cause I go on holiday for a week at 10am on Monday and won't have any wi-fi

    It was like a week before, wasn't it? Edit: Album came out on the 1st of October and it leaked/streamed on the 24th of September. So yeah, exactly a week before.

    You never know, Matt does tend to change solos live sometimes. Reapers has been played pretty much exactly the same, note-for-note, since it was first played though so I don't expect it to change.

    Iirc, didn't a review confirm the vocoder 'killed by' parts? Can't remember which one now.

    but teh storyyyyy :_( I'll probably try and combine it with BH&R, I feel like a lot of the songs will work well together.

    I massively doubt we'll get a stream until the week of the 1st. In terms of specific days, I'm betting on either the 1st or the 3rd. Well, I did say 'mostly uplifting and bright'. The outro and verse are kinda dark. Overall though, I just find it to be fun. The whammy tapping sections, funky/dancey pre-chorus and chorus, Morello-esque solo and 80s robot vocoders always make me smile.

    Well, I doubt they've changed it. There's every possibility the distorted 'Drones!' plays at the same time as the hooligan chants though.

    Only in the sense that the lyrics are about killing. Other than that, I like Assassin because it feels quite dark and twisted (the distorted barbership quartet and eerie pickup screams). I find Reapers mostly bright and uplifting sonically (apart from the outro). Polar opposites really.

    Taking into the account the new 'All you've done is brutalise' line, I take it as Matt saying something like "You've got these great, powerful organisations built to protect people and you use them to fuck shit up." As for the 'babe' thing, it's probs just a double meaning for a cruel/vicious lover like loads of other people have said.

    Nah. There's a distinct 'aw' phoneme, as opposed to the 'oh' in drones. Plus, 'reapers and drones' wouldn't really make sense. I thought that for a bit as well. I've heard a 'b' where there should be a 'm' for 'men' for quite a while now though.

    I resorted to thinking "Reapers on course, babe" (even though I can't really hear a 'c'). Yours makes sense as well though. could well be that.

    The chorus is one of the main reasons I've loved it so much. I've been singing it just about everywhere I go since I first heard it, even though I didn't know the lyrics Defector's grown on me the most. Finally got hold of some audio of it from the Making Of so I could listen to it again and the riff's been stuck in my head ever since. Also, that solo <3 Hopefully the full song pays off.

    I think the only lyric that's still unconfirmed at this point is the 'We've got reapers...' line, isn't it?
