RayFan9876
A few months ago I modeled the Resistance cover art in 3D, but since I just joined here recently, I'm uploading it now. It took about six hours straight, non-stop. I listened to every Muse album in that time. Here, compare. It's perfect (I think) except for the broken jagged edges where the path meets the hexes: Later I'll upload side-views so you can see what it looks like. It looks like something out of the fourth dimension when you rotate it. I'll also work on making it look more spherical. Scroll down for wallpapers! (25/3/11) new wallpaper! chrisDOTnet
thats epic! any chance you could give it a bit more on the sides to make it a wallpaper? something like 1600x1200, or 1440x900?

RayFan9876
Thanks. I made it in 3Ds Max. Sure I'll make it into a wallpaper. Give me about a day or so to improve it a bit and make it into a wallpaper.

RayFan9876
Hi, I did improve the model, but I unfortunately wasn't able to implement it into my rendered scene. I did however take time to make it into a fancy wallpaper in the 3 common aspect ratios: 4:3 (1600x1200): 16:10 (1920x1200): 16:9 (1920x1080): And I threw together a quick GIF rotation of the model:

Couture
Nice... I endorse this use of 3D. That's a smart decision on the taper of the tunnel model too. I modeled the resistance stargate a while back in Maya for fun and realized how unrealistic the cameras focal length was in the illustration. Are you using the standard Max raytrace render engine? I can't recommend Vray enough.
