Lolla's is probably the worse. There was a big deal about it last year because because they said it was seriously hurting Chicago's industry.

You can play anywhere within 300 miles (that means it includes Milwaukee, Detroit, etc) for 6 months before and 3 months after, which is really stupid. I seriously doubt a band playing a club show in Detroit in May is going to negatively affect the fest

Wow. Yeah, that's a little harsh.

I wonder if they've gotten more strict about that recently. Nine Inch Nails was one of the headliners in 2008, but they also did St. Louis, Detroit, and Toledo all within a couple weeks of the festival. Hell, Muse themselves played Detroit two days before their headlining slot at Lollapalooza 2007.

It wouldn't surprise me if they're tightening up on restrictions, though; Lollapalooza is arguably much bigger now than it was even a few years ago.

I've been holding out hope that Muse will do a makeup show in Saint Louis sometime before/after Lolla. I know it's extremely unlikely as it is, but does this radius clause make it even less likely?

Well, I think STL is like 295 miles away from Chicago, so they could probably get around it easily. But a makeup concert seems unlikely anyway.

If any of you nice Musers could spare a minute, would you please like these three photos on the Big Day Out Offical facebook page? It could possibly win myself and another Aussie Muser a trip to Lolla.

the photos are here

but you have to like the BDO page first, which is here. http://www.facebook.com/bigdayoutofficialpage

Thanks! :)

I don't think they are super strict about it in other cities, they definitely allow exceptions. But they are definitely strict about stuff actually in chicago.

hmmmm

Muse will be playing a few festival shows while readying its next album this summer; the U.K. band scored its first major U.S. hit with its 2009 release, “The Resistance.”

:D

:stunned::eek::awesome:

I'm so happy, I could die. Let's hope it's a reliable source that they got their info from! But MAN this is a good signnnnn! :D

Would someone care to let me stay at their place? I'll sleep on the fucking ground if I have to. I'm trying my damn best to go, but I have so much insurance and bills to pay for. I can hardly afford a flight and ticket if I ever get my tax return. I am so stressed/excited/sad/happy/ecstatic. :'(

Depressing day became super awesome as soon as I saw this news break. Yeah, we've been banking on this for months, but to have a source like that come out and say it feels really good.

Shelbi, we'll find a way for you (and Justin too). The old Cali Muser bunch needs to brainstorm.

In case you can't find anyone to stay with, the HI Hostel is really close to Grant Park and it's super cheap. Best of all, you can book now and pay a very small deposit to hold your room. I'm staying 4 nights for a total of $132 and my deposit was $6.60.
