I see some people call Matt "Maffoo".

It's funny But why? Is it just another spelling of Matthew? or is there a story behind it?

It's an infantilisation of his name, which is used for God knows why. Bellamy isn't a child, and it's one of those things boardies seem to do as a way of making themselves feel a bit closer to him. Same goes for "Matteh" and "Dommeh".

 

His name is Matt, or I just stick to Bellamy as I don't know the guy.

I might be wrong but it may have originated in the Lolz thread, because it's traditional of lolz type pics to spell things in, as the member above said, in an infantised way and the word Maffoo is often seen on the pics in there. Hope that helps!

I think (and I may be incorrect) it's because of the way Matt pronounces some things with the sound ffff instead of th. So instead of Matthew, you get Maffoo.
