Clunge Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Survival is easily straight in as one of Muse's heaviest moments to date, and for that - I absolutely love it.
Dominic. Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I could never give one answer for this since it'd probably change every other day. Favourite guitar moments though... KoC riff MotP effect/riff CE riff New Born riff Dead STARHSRHDJFD riff Who Knows Who and Maggie's Farm live outros. BEEF Survival outro is pretty sick Supremacy is pretty sick Unsustainable is pretty sick Hysteria bassline, lead, solo. Everything Early version of Glorious, that was sick SMBH Assassin You know, just a few
FabriPav Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Supremacy is b33fy but a bit too slow imo. This instead...
Clunge Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 New Born is probably still my favourite Muse riff, but it's been neutered live these days by Matt not playing the piano and his crappier toanz.
Hopix Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Supremacy is b33fy but a bit too slow imo. This instead... I don't think Supremacy is too slow to be beefy, but I do agree that that performance is fucking facemelting beyond comprehension.
DifferentPerson Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Supremacy is b33fy but a bit too slow imo. This instead... I have the top comment on that video OLOLOLOL
FabriPav Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 New Born is probably still my favourite Muse riff, but it's been neutered live these days by Matt not playing the piano and his crappier toanz. But the T2L toan is great it's the speed the only problem of it (and the absence of piano-guitar transition) I have the top comment on that video OLOLOLOL James Fitzgerald is a quite fancy name
Clunge Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 But the T2L toan is great Most of his T2L toanz are great, but New Born is too fizzy/lacking in beef. It sounds like the 2006 NB tone all over again.
Jazzthief Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Dunno how much I like T2L toan The best toan the song has had. heavyheavyheavy
kueller Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 T2L New Born is one of the best sounding I've heard and probably had the beefiest guitar tone of the night.
FabriPav Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Yeah, it was just huge last november (and it doesn't seem like it changed for the stadiums).
Clunge Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 . I thought it was cack at the O2. Not a patch on Reading 2011. Each to their own. Headup sounded absolutely massive after New Born though.
kueller Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 2011 was some of their beefiest tone ever and they only played New Born twice. Not much to judge from that but I assume it would have sounded great. 2009-2010 sounded good but not nearly as powerful as what I heard in 2013.
JamesWS Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 One thing we can agree on though is that the guitar work in Survival kicks major arse. Yes! Definitely, one of the best songs on the album, it's a pity the world didn't embrace it as much as they should have with the Olympics and stuff. But what can you expect! Typical bandwagon jumping journalism didn't help:mad: best concert closer I think ?
JamesWS Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Sorry, terrible kindle auto correct was going for a different word that rhymes
DifferentPerson Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 New Born's riff is the first thing that comes to mind when I try to think of a classic Muse riff. It's definitely not my personal favourite though. My favourite at the moment is probably Dead Star, mainly because of how epic it was at the Etihad.
kueller Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 For me it's either New Born, Showbiz, or MK Ultra's first riff.
Dominic. Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 It still sounds half as beefy as it was in person Not keen. Too fizzy
Clunge Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Not keen. Too fizzy Yup, that's the problem for me. Just too fizzy. New Born at Reading 2011 was absolutely perfect tone (and performance) wise. In fact, I think that version might even top all the 2004 performances, inc. Glasto '04 and KROQ '04.
kueller Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 None of the regular OoS songs looked that great at R/L to be honest. At least not from an outsider's perspective.

I think new born and ce suffered a little at reading, as though they were trying to keep it as close as possible to the album version. Like the Solo was standard for the most part and no outro riff
