Hopix
No just childish. And yes, they had plans for such a thing, with 10-20 minute songs etc. Then they moved to a studio in LA or something and got inspired by club music. Could have been so good. Peter.
as for the double album, I like the concept. one half could be songs as usual and the second half could be a larger suite with more progressive elements. kinda like dt's six degrees, but I don't dare to say that out loud becasue I'll be frowned upon again. LiT
Well, giving the arpeggiators a rest would be a refreshing change. Nooo. Keep them. In fact, use it more heavily to create space rock atmosphere. They should create 10 minutes long shoegazing trippy space rock music with heavy arpeggio and dark drone pads with neo-psychedelia vibes. I'm down with that.
FabriPav
LiT and Arnold should have a genre-naming duel.

LiT
What in gods name do arpeggios have to do with space rock. Everything! Many space rock atmosphered song has arpeggio, it gives them that vibe. A few examples: [soundcloud]https://soundcloud.com/pdis_inpartmaint/maserati-maserati-vii[/soundcloud] (or listen to Solar Exodus) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AfhmsPIBGg (altough Fuck Buttons is not space rock but this track has the space electronica vibe) I could give you many more examples. Space rock uses the arpeggio with pleasure. Not every song but MANY.

LiT
You seem to have missed mine. Sippe didn't understand what does arpeggio have to do with space rock. And I showed examples that space rockers tend to use it often. Altough it can be found in many other directions as well.

LiT
Not sure how that first song fits with the "space rock" tag. Maserati is a post-rock/space rock band. Their latest is a tipical space rock record. But other examples for arpeggio space rock can be heard throughout the album in songs like Solar Exodus, San Tropea, Martin Rev, The Eliminator. If the first one I posted didn't really sound like space rock.

Unidentifiable
Arpeggiators can be the worst kind of synthesisers sometimes. The Killers used more arpeggiated synths than ever before on their latest album (eg. on the song Here With Me) and it just made it sound like dated overblown 80s rock. Further away from "futuristic and spacey" than their sound could possibly be.
Hat
Guitar can be found in most space-rock tracks. Does this mean that a guitar gives off a space-rock vibe? That was kind of what Anxyous was getting at.

You clearly get the idea, arpeggio synth is an important element in space rock.

LiT
We get the idea, but the idea is wrong. Because? Synth isn't common? You can't hear arpeggio synth in every song. (Except Muse of course... but that's a different story)
