  1. Agreed, US is The stadium tour really was excellent, I managed to get to three shows that year. Manchester LCCC was phenomenal in terms of atmosphere, crowd and had a mighty setlist. Both those Wembley shows were amazing too; though in hindsight night 2 still had better rotations I think night 1 gets a bad rep. NSC and I Belong To You were both surprisingly great live, B+H is always a beast and Soldier's Poem was a nice surprise. Nowhere night 2 of course, but still great given the performances were really high throughout that tour. Uprising was such a good opener then, it really suffers not being the opening song imo.
  2. I miss the stadium tour, they were fantastic shows. Wembley 2010 remains one of my favourite ever gigs. It's odd when you look back at the complaints about that arena tours being poor in terms of setlists...I'd kill for a setlist with guaranteed New Born, SS, Hysteria, Unnatural Selection and a possible chance of MK Ultra these days. Piano Cave was good too. Just shows how bad things have gotten on this tour There were definitely issues on that cycle but I'll always have fond memories as it was they height of my fandom and at that time when they (mostly) couldn't do wrong in my eyes, ending out the era with Origin at R+L was a hell of a finish.
  3. Thanks, very interesting! Just had a look through some their setlists from the current tour, it's great how much they mix it up, fans can do one show or multiple nights and come away completely satisfied every time. Their sets are always a good length too. Please Muse, take note.
  4. I remember something about them dropping Reapers on the US tour due to the band feeling it wasn't getting a good enough reaction. No idea about the reasons for dropping it on the current festival circuit though. I could be wrong but was Glastonbury the last time Reapers was was played live? These gigs could do with the intensity getting kicked up a notch.
  5. Poor form from the band, you get the feeling they just want this to all be over. They're putting in as little effort as possible which is a shame for the fans, they have every right to be pissed off. With that time slot they should be going all out. Replace The Globalist for Bliss and Stockholm and it's hugely improved. It still baffles me that Reapers has been dropped.
  6. Ah cheers, thought so! Just trying to think of everything they've done which isn't in 4/4... Take A Bow, Falling Down, Blackout, Exogenesis and RBS in 3/4, not a particularly 'out there' signature but ah well. Animals and the outro of Agitated in 5/4. Assassin and Micro Cuts with changes to 6/4. Outro to Cave? Not listened for a while but is there a 5/4 change in there somewhere? Might have missed a few. Some experimentation with odd time signatures would be great on a future album, they've definitely got the technical ability.
  7. The U2 arena shows I went to had 25 songs each night, I was very pleased with that given they're in their mid fifties now. They had a pretty set structure for the gigs but they still had had five or six rotation spots each night and weren't afraid of playing the odd rarity, one even became a staple. I'd never expect Muse to do a Springsteen/Pearl Jam in terms of length or rotation but...I just don't get how they've managed to play less songs this tour, it baffles me. Very unfamiliar with their music but from what I've heard Radiohead mix things up a lot too? Have they always done that?
  8. I wonder why they switched B+H for Map? 14 songs is pathetic. They need to seriously take a big break and come back refreshed for the next tour cycle...22 songs should be the bare minimum next time. Will it happen? Or will the sets continue to get shorter? *shudders*
  9. I'd definitely take more songs in the vein of Overture and Redemption on a future album, Overture is pretty haunting. I was never a big fan of Cross-Pollination though. As for The Globalist...I'm just annoyed it's taking up precious space in the live sets these days.
  10. The initial DEAD INSIDE took a while to get used to, but it's a great song and a highlight off Drones for me. I still think the high points of Madness (i.e the final third) are better, but Dead Inside is more consistently good all the way through. Both have brilliant vocal performances.
  11. Leeds was great with the synth intro, didn't expect that. Wembley '11 remains my highlight; first time I saw the song live and the falsetto was really strong that night. Manchester Academy and Glasgow were awesome too.
  12. I'm with you on this; at the two Psycho tour gigs I went to SMBH and Uprising were really lifeless. I thought it'd be good to see those songs in such small venues but they all looked so bored playing them. I'm sure the flurry of rarities prior didn't exactly help matters but still. Even though they never will, they should give Uprising a break every now and then.
  13. Most of the hits, some live favourites and the odd rarity. What gets me is that a lot of these songs are singles. 1. Psycho 2. Dead Star 3. Uprising 4. Supermassive Blackhole 5. Butterflies and Hurricanes 6. Starlight 7. Hysteria 8. Hyper Music 9. Assassin 10. Space Dementia 11. Jam + Dead Inside 12. Bliss 13. Time is Running Out 14. Mercy 15. Reapers 16. Knights of Cydonia 17. Muscle Museum 18. Plug in Baby 19. Stockholm Syndrome
  14. I hope they take a bit of a longer break than usual and Matt can rest up for a good while, he's obviously still very good live but it's been a shame seeing him have more frequent 'rough' moments this tour, even if he is hitting that point of gradual vocal decline. The setlist length is the main worry for me regarding the next tour cycle, I hope they return to the T2L arena era in terms of length next time they play, that should be the bare minimum really. I think I'd only really want to see them next year (if they did the odd date) if it was something along the lines of R+L, Download, the Psycho tour etc. For all the issues on this tour cycle there were definitely moments of brilliance.
  15. A bit on the long side but based on gigs I've been to: (What's He Building in There?) 1. Take A Bow 2. Dead Star 3. Assassin 4. MK Ultra 5. Map of the Problematique 6. The Groove 7. City of Delusion 8. Micro Cuts 9. Hyper Music 10. Citizen Erased 11. Sunburn 12. Hoodoo 13. Ruled By Secrecy 14. Space Dementia 15. Invincible 16. Uno 17. Darkshines 18. Hysteria 19. Reapers 20. Bliss 21. Plug in Baby 22. Knights 23. Fury 24. Butterflies and Hurricanes 25. Stockholm Syndrome
  16. It's a shame to hear Matt's thoughts about this topic, I can understand his point about songs not getting huge receptions amongst a larger (especially festivals) crowd, but he/the band are too concerned about every single song getting a PiB or TiRO style reaction. They've been a band for so long that even at the festival gigs there will always be a small pocket of 'hardcore' fans there, one rarity a night pleases every demographic. At their own shows it should really be two of three deep cuts a night imo, but that's unlikely given that they're playing such short sets these days Of course a rarity tour would be appreciated, but getting tickets would no doubt be a nightmare. Plus, if they insist on only playing small venues it's obviously going to crush many folk who don't manage to get tickets. There isn't really a 'fair' system they could implement either. However they choose to go about it will likely cause outrage. Fix the set list length issue and they could please every one with minimal effort, they just need more confidence in playing those older songs in bigger venues...though it was years ago surely they must remember songs like Muscle Museum, SFA and Butterflies etc were all singles?
  17. Just listened back to Futurism from Montreux, ahh it sounds so good half a step down. Strange how lowering certain songs either lessens its power (Starlight/Revolt) or improves it, I liked MK Ultra better in the lower key as well. Assassin from Kiev sounded brutal, although the video isn't great quality there's a great short yell/scream from Matt just before the drums kick in.
