  1. Muse used to rotate songs all over the place, or at least changed the order around - Absolution Tour is probably the most solid example from what I've seen, but they seem to have become more restricted over the years. Not exactly sure why, but I presume they feel it's easier for the overall production or whatever. I'm sure they could still do it if they wanted to though. Anyway, back to the previous point. Fair play, guys, I was completely out of the loop around the T2L tour, but I just checked, and yeah...wow, haha! In that case, I can understand the disappointment this time round, I was under the impression that it was still around the same kind of length they'd always done. I only saw them on the TR tour and then the early part of the Drones tour, so it looks like I missed out on the full-length arena shows, haha!
  2. Frankly, have Muse ever consistently played 20 songs a night? Apart from the odd special show like Wembley or something, a quick skim through some setlists of each album tour going back to OOS seems to suggest they've been pretty consistent. 17-18 songs per show on average, with 14-16 for festivals or smaller shows. 19+ has always been pretty rare for them to be honest as far as I can see.
  3. Butterflies And Hurricanes IIRC. I remember hearing Sing For Absolution, Time Is Running Out, and Hysteria a lot around the same time on the radio though, so it was a bit of a combined effort. If only I'd been paying attention to the tour dates back then.
  4. Did they ever sell that one that looked like someone had spilled chocolate sauce all over it?
  5. I wouldn't count the three minutes the band are off in the bathroom as part of the set to be honest... I saw them before The Globalist came into the set at the start of the tour and got 16 songs not including the mid-set jam. £80+ per ticket too.
  6. It looks so empty - send it back and tell them to finish making the rest of it. I missed having a tone knob on my last custom actually. Making sure my new one has it as it won't have the hexaphonic stuff, so there's a direct swap for the volume knob that needed last time.
  7. Depends on what you've got yourself, I suppose. I've been lucky enough to get Citizen Erased twice in the three shows I've been to, and I'd much rather have that than something like Agitated, The Groove, etc. That didn't stop me being angry for weeks when they played Futurism and Fury at Zepp though, haha! Performance counts as well to be fair. Technically, I got Take A Bow at Wembley in 2010, but it was when they were using the stupid rising platform thing, and I saw absolutely nothing during the whole song. On the other hand, I'd stopped caring after Bliss and Citizen Erased really, haha! I don't even particularly remember Ruled By Secrecy even though it's one of my favourite piano songs they've done. Unless you go to see them all the time though, I think you sort of have to reach a point where you're happy with what you've got so far in the end, haha! I'm sort of past the whole jealousy stage thankfully.
  8. Yeah, I've only been to three, so two songs from each would probably look something like this. Reapers Bliss MK Ultra Citizen Erased Ruled By Secrecy Stockholm Syndrome Wouldn't be too bad if the prices were a bit lower to be honest.
  9. Yeah, I know when I saw HAARP in the cinema before it came out, I was completely blown away. I'd known their music since Absolution and had tried in vain to get tickets a few times since then, but without ever actually having seen what they were capable of on stage. Needless to say, I never listened to any of their songs the same after that, and I know whenever I've introduced anyone to the band since then, I've introduced them exclusively through old live videos, haha! If they just gave people a chance, I think they'd be surprised. Hell, my mum barely knows anything except Uprising, but she used to hear me listening to Butterflies and Hurricanes and thought it sounded amazing. My partner said she never realised how good Citizen Erased was until she saw me playing it on guitar. I've had other people I've got into them relatively recently, with all kinds of musical tastes, and at least the people I know have always been most impressed by the heavier side of things. I do wonder if all the promotion that goes with the albums, and talking to the media, and constantly performance singles on TV and stuff skews their perception of their overall fanbase. We've seen that they're perfectly willing to do things differently at festivals or obscure shows like Zepp, even when there's no reason that the proportion of fans feeling one way or another would be any different. It's a complete mystery to me frankly. Thankfully, I've mostly stopped caring too much about it these days, because Zepp just made me too angry when it happened, haha!
  10. There are also the countless examples over the years that I'm sure every single one of us has, and certainly with pretty much everyone I've ever met who's got into Muse in some form or another, of so many songs where the case is basically "I never realised how awesome 'such and such song A' and 'such and such song B' were until I saw it live or watched a live video online". Muse have always been one of those bands really, but alas, we seem to be swimming against the tide these days. I'll still happily enjoy the hits live, but there's no question that seeing Citizen Erased again was the highlight of the show for me last time I saw them. It only takes a few songs to make a real difference to a hell of a lot of people.
  11. To be honest, Muse of all people should know that they have arguably one of the most obsessive fanbases around (and that's not always a compliment either, haha!). The idea that the band, or Matt, legitimately thinks that more than 90% of people at a given show care about less than 10% of their discography is ludicrous to me.
  12. And yet you're the one at the top of the page saying Mercy and Dead Inside will be gone next tour? If the next album goes the same way though, they're going to have a real problem of too many similar songs. It's already been pointed out about Madness and Dead Inside, and Starlight and Mercy feel kind of the same to me. Of course you could say the same about a lot of their heavy songs as well, but that's another issue. The point is that no song is exempt really. They've dropped songs like PIB and TIRO before. There's no real reason that Starlight or SMBH or anything else is guaranteed a place in the setlist in the future. It just depends what kind of mood they're in.
  13. Assuming they'd want to keep most of the hits, I'd settle for something like this. Psycho Reapers Bliss/Plug In Baby Supermassive Black Hole Time Is Running Out/Interlude + Hysteria Map Of The Problematique/Butterflies And Hurricanes Futurism/Fury The Handler Citizen Erased Apocalypse Please/Ruled By Secrecy Madness/Dead Inside Uprising/Resistance Starlight/Mercy The Globalist -------------------- Micro Cuts/Dead Star Stockholm Syndrome Knights Of Cydonia Done on my phone and off the top of my head, but it seems fair to me. I'd be damn happy with it as well
  14. Pretty much what should have been happening for ages. No reason why they can't have a fair balance for everyone. You could very easily make a setlist with a 50/50 split on hits and songs for the old fans with a few rotations for each slot. Most other bands seem to manage, and Muse never used to have a problem with it. Even more than a decade ago, they had a reputation for being one of the best live acts around and the hits were in pretty short supply by comparison.
  15. Ah, fair enough. Just seemed odd early in the set. I missed the T2L tour and the Drones show I went to didn't have SS so without following every show all the time, I was a bit surprised to see that combo.
  16. It's really not as difficult as it sounds though. Did they seriously go SS + riffs into IS? Actually Stockholm without riffs going straight into The Handler could have worked really nicely. Hadn't thought of that before. Might try it.
  17. It's been a couple of years since I did one of these, so I thought I'd have another go. 01 - The Handler 02 - Dead Star 03 - Futurism 04 - Reapers 05 - Fury 06 - Bliss 07 - Showbiz 08 - Micro Cuts 09 - Citizen Erased 10 - Ruled By Secrecy 11 - Space Dementia 12 - The Globalist 13 - Redemption ------------------------------ 14 - [isolated System] 15 - Hyper Chondriac Music 16 - Butterflies And Hurricanes 17 - Stockholm Syndrome That'll do nicely! I'm sure Muse could manage an essentially 16 song set, right?
