Haven't followed what Twin Atlantic have been up to for a while to be honest. I saw them live twice as a support act in 2009 and 2010 and still have Vivarium in my iTunes, as I enjoyed them really, but never got into Free and stopped paying attention after that. The first album is still a good one though.

Guys? :ninja:

There are eight of us who want that Josh Homme guitar right :ninja:

Nah that's just a reissue (or replica really) of the Ovation guitar he played.

I think the fact that only one person has offered $200 since January says something. Would definitely be different if it was Ovation doing that proper reissue that's been rumored.

Woah, there's a rumored proper Ovation reissue? O.o

I think Eastwood previously made a copy of the Ovation that was not well received, so that probably has a bearing on the numbers this time round.

EDIT: What James said.

What's sad is that this has a more accurate shape than the eastwood

Thing is, the original wasn't well received either, which is why there were only around 400 of them. I think it was because it was slightly unusual to begin with, but also because it wasn't a super strat in a fluorescent color with some obscure locking bridge... just to give an example.

But yeah

A bit like old Orange amps in the 90s I guess. I recall Matt Sharp (Weezer's original bassist) got his 200 watt Orange/Matamp for a few hundred or something ridiculous like that, and now they're going for 5 grand (if you can even find one)

You're safe to try out Free, just be aware that anything after Free is fairly pop flavoured.

Was that pre-Viv or Free? Luckily got to see them 4 times while they toured Free so I'm glad I got to experience some popless shows. The larger venue tour they did in May '15 was great fun though.

Pre-Free... I never really saw Vivarium as an album, more of a long EP :p it was early 2011 just before Free was released. I was dragged along by my ex and never really got into them until quite a lot later despite going to a fair few gigs... I really wish I'd been paying more attention now, especially when arcane roots and dinosaur pile-up supported :'(

Aw, I didn't know they didn't even get the shape right. :$ What a shame.

Also, :eek:https://finance.yahoo.com/news/fender-r-introduces-mod-shop-140000866.html

TGP is already complaining that they couldn't get the style of jack socket they wanted on the guitar.

And there are lots of differences. One of the best things about the original is the neck joint:

Also, Jaicen, do you know much about the different JCM 900 models? Specifically the SL-X

I'm afraid I know very little about the JCM 900, sorry.

Really.

I figured you'd be familiar with those, considering how much you seem to know about Marshalls in general.

But yeah, I'm looking at the SL-X 50 watt head with... 5881 output valves. Does this make me a bad person?

If the drive sound is better than my DSL, I might look into it. I sort of gave up using that amp for channel switching. You can get them quite cheap it seems, and it's not one of the ones with the clipping diodes that everyone seems to hate.

Yeah, never really known how to refer to Vivarium. Nothing worse than getting into a band AFTER you see them. The Free-ze tour where they played Sparkly Touch .. And I couldn't go *all the bitterness*

I got recommended them week before Free came out and was told "you'll love them", being a glass half empty guy I was like "yeah, whatever" AND HERE WE ARE 😁

I'm not sure if I gave the impression i'm some sort of expert! If so I apologise, I just like a certain period of Marshalls so I know 'some' stuff about them!

What's the issue with the DSL?

Which period?

And nothing, just it's so unbalanced with the EQ between the channels. Removing that cap you mentioned didn't help in the way I wanted - it just took away a lot of high end, but didn't really add any #chuggz. So I might as well sell it to an unsuspecting Muse fan and get a JCM 900 if I like the sound more, since I won't be using the DSL for channel switching anyway.

Also, unrelated, but this is cool. Even more angry than the original.

Hey Jaicen

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gj9wUkP6f-E

deluxe reverb through a marshall 4x12 (skip to 2:50)

TGP might have imploded again, but it sounds really good to me.

Wow.

It's like a whole different amp, i'd never have expected it to make such a difference. I think the stock speaker sounded shit with that guitar, but then i'm sure it's possible to make it sound good if you want to and see what they've done here.

The Deluxe Reverb is one of my favourite amps, but i'd never play it with that much gain.

I was pretty surprised. And yeah, it's not a bad sound though - I wouldn't mind hearing it with a good strat.

I have one of these, which I'm tempted to try though my 2x12 with V30s now...

I don't think the amp itself distorts as much as that one though.
