Dom, it was really loud on all the stadiums for me at the front, but emirates night 1 at the B stage was pretty shitey for me... What's awkward is that Biffy at SDF was louder than muse :chuckle:

You dont have to crane your neck! :p

Maybe Dizzee Rascal killed my ears with all his DIRTY STINKING BASS

I've only been to these two stadium shows, and in pretty much the same location for both nights. (in the seats pretty close to the front on Chris' side... he didn't see me during survival though :supersad: ) I don't know what the sound is usually like, but I don't really have any complaints.

didn't see biffy at any stadiums, but they sounded fucking massive when I saw them earlier this year. definitely want to see them again #soon

might go to one of the muse shows this fail/autumn, but i imagine i won't enjoy them as much as the shows earlier this year

Some of it was killing my ears the first night.

I think I had gotten used to his...

BIG Dirty Stinking Bass.

...by the second night.

I actually really liked Dizzee by Manchester. Loved him at SDF.

Yeah, I thought the sound was good. Better than arenas imo. I think his tone is awesome this tour!

Biffy have never headlined a stadium (and I doubt will) - the biggest venue they've played is about the size of MSG, and they hardly sold it :( They were awesome in Paris though, but I dont think they really suited stadiums :(

Yeah. I have to say I preferred him over bastille (I missed the 1975 on the second night, so I have no idea what they were like)

The only thing I have to say is that I couldn't make out what was going on at some points because it was so loud. Otherwise, I enjoyed it very many

How big is SDF? I would've thought it's MUCH bigger than MSG. Apparently that's about 20,000 people, but I can't remember. I know what you mean though... I don't think many people knew who they were. There were a few groups of people who seemed to be going mad, but overall, the crowd reaction was a bit disappointing

I'd be suprised if Biffy didn't headline one stadium in their career. Reckon they could sell out one night at a stadium at the moment (well maybe not right at the moment, but say if they had announced it at the beginning of their album cycle)

I'm not a big 1975 fan at all

Biffy only supported at SDF. And yes, it's about 4x the size of MSG :chuckle: No one knew them even there, apart from me and the two biffy fans I was with on the barrier. Simon even turned his mic stand towards us in the last song cause they were literally performing to us only! They're only big in the UK really, it's weird. The biggest headline show biffy have done in america is 500 people, and that was in december... Before that it was pubs n shit...

Noooo way. Maybe in Glasgow, but no where else, at least not in the near future. They probably sold under 3/4 of the O2, and that's about a quarter of the size of a stadium. Plus I recon they wouldn't be so good in a stadium, they're amazing in smaller venues, but they lose something in big ones... Muse on the other hand are way better in stadiums imo, even though it is amazing seeing them in small venues too, just cause of how close you are and stuff.

This is what you still fail to grasp since the last time this came up. There's a big difference between a one off stadium show and an 11 date UK arena tour (not to mention an upcoming festival season)

True... But I cant really see them wanting to do a stadium anyway, and I dont think they'd want to take a risk like only filling one block of seats...

I doubt they'd only fill one block of seats. I mean sure selling out 90,000 at Wembley may be a stretch perhaps but I'm sure they could do some 'smaller' ones. And they have the massive stadium songs like Many of Horror and Biblical. Bitches love singing to dat

The difference in Biffy's size in the UK and Europe/US is kinda weird. I mean, they're huuuuge here, I reckon they could definitely sell out a stadium if it was just one date (depends on the stadium too obviously...), but then in America they're essentially playing large clubs... it's just such a massive difference, pretty much two different ends of the spectrum

What online forums/places are there to advertise amps for sale? It's all well and good posting on eBay but to be honest I think it's sorta pointless since you're unlikely to stumble upon it unless you're specifically searching for it, and it's not a big name amp as such

musicradar forum is down

Buuut, they're not that big... they're mostly known for about 2 songs, as a solo artist

I'd say about the same level of bigness as QOTSA is here. Or maybe a bit smaller. I dunno it's hard to tell...

I mean, walking around college for example, when I hear conversation about Reading, most people say "i'll go for saturday just for eminem, I didn't think Biffy Clyro would headline, I only know like one of his songs"

I guess they're one of those bands that's massive but still weirdly underground, like Muse before The Resistance

 Trueee, but they are known by most people, they're all over mainstream radio etc

Nah, QOTSA are definitely smaller, only time they've ever really broken into the mainstream was during the SFtD-era. This tour is the first they've played arenas in Europe/UK, I think..

Course, I'm implying that you're only really big if you've broken into the mainstream, but obviously there's loads of non-mainstream bands that are huge, like Radiohead. QOTSA probably fall into that bracket

They're about as big as Muse were during Absolution. :yesey:

...Except no way in hell would they headline major festivals around Europe and especially not Glasto...

Still betting on Glastonbury Other Stage headline in 2014

and I wouldn't call Biffy mainstream at all, bar about 4 songs that are blatantly written for the exact purpose to sell singles.

Aaand, Biffy havent had a proper Arena tour till this year - last album the main tour was academies, then at the end they added SECC, Wembley arena and MEN (i think..)

I can see QOTSA headlining R/L next year. QOTSA have already headlined Glasto other stage? Stupid bet. I don't think they're the kind of band that would be booked to headline glasto but could see them subbing main stage there. Unless you're talking about Biffy in which case I could see them headlining now. I doubt they'd play any UK festival again now without headlining

Biffy are at the same heights Muse were at on the end of their Abso tour IMO

Yeah I was talking about Biffy, and really, Glasto headliners have to please all the generations n shit like that, and the Other Stage is the exact same stage as the old Reading main stage now so Biffy would do that. Really dont think they would headline Glastonbury. Even the hardcore fans were seriously surprised at the Reading headline, especially over NIN. (all the NIN fans now hate Biffy - awkward)

They could headline glasto after one more Garth era album, but they've said next album they might go back to the old style which will be epic!

And yes - QOTSA will probably headline reading next year...

Who, Biffy or Queens? Couldn't see Queens headlining Glasto, no. Biffy thought, mebbe

Biffy mainstream songs - The Captain, Mountains, Many of Horror, Bubbles, Black Chandelier, Biblical, Opposite, possibly Stingin Belle and That Golden Rule too. Since OR I've heard them all over the place consistently, I'd say they are pretty mainstream, even if it is due to only a few songs...

Sometimes I do wonder how the mind of Jamie works. How idiotic would you have to be to book one of the biggest UK acts around at the moment to headline your second stage when they've recently headlined festivals like R/L, Sonisphere, and most likely T in the Park soon enough. I mean wat.

I actually meant to come and edit my post that surely Biffy are more BH&R era actually. Last album cycle they stepped up to festival headline status with Sonisphere, then released another album which has done solid, booked for R/L, one of the most popular acts in the UK. Meh

I'd agree with those, kinda not The Captain (but the over production on it makes it a bit mainstream) and not TGR. Stingin Belle, nah.

Those songs aren't really "them" though (apart from TGR). I mean, sure, they're the singles from the last album, but they're not Biffy's proper vibe.

Also, those are only from their last 2 albums, they've got 4 more...

yeah, Biffy do have a tonne of 'mainstream' songs

The Captain

That Golden Rule

Bubbles

Stingin' Belle

Biblical

Many of Horror

Living is a Problem

Black Chandelier

Mountains

Opposite

God & Satan

Tempted to say SLB, Different People and VotS

Justboy, bitches ADORE Justboy.

they could almost make a festival headline set out of just them

and yeah. I reckon they will. Hype dying down a little now but they'll be back this winter in the UK, and Reading annonce their acts earlier now. Winter Reading headliner hype. Plus it'll be 4 years since they last appeared, and they last subbed it. Surely they're due a headline slot now

None of that is the point though, doesn't matter if it's only from their last 2 albums or if it's not their "proper vibe", point is that either way, they're pretty mainstream now, and hugely well known. Ask anyone of our age up to 20s if they know Biffy (regardless of whether they think Simon = Biffy or not) and 90%ish will, even if it's only vaguely

Will, actually, most people havent heard of them in my experience

Sonisphere's fairly specialist though, a bit like Download - proper rock festival. Definitely headline material there. (they actually played fairly far down Download's bill last year!) So actually the only two festivals they've headlined in the UK are Sonisphere and Rockness (tiny) so far, and soon to be R&L. They'll headline T for sure, but that's scotland where they're fucking massive! I did agree they could do a one off Glasgow smallish stadium.

For Glastonbury, you've gotta be all encompassing. Glastonbury's roots are from all over - Jazz, Blues, everything really. Reading, Sonisphere, all them, their roots are in heavy rock. Biffy headlining a rock festival? Yes, they're the biggest hard rock band around along with QOTSA. And yes, they are hard rock. Dont let the production on the latest albums fool you!

BH&R? No they not gonna go do 4 nights at Wembley Arena and then sell out Wembley Stadium two nights running :chuckle: Mid Absolution for sure.

Not The Captain or TGR. WAT R U ON JAMIE?

And they may have 4 more albums but how many songs off IL or VoB does the average person know?

TGR isn't mainstream. Come on man.

And yeah that's what I meant!
