laurie_muse
Hi, Me and my band have our first gig coming up at our local hall in december and we are thinking of doing a muse influenced night!! Were going to kick off with Uprising (with extended riff) but can anyone suggest any other good easy guitar + vocals songs which would be cool to play BTW it doesnt have to be muse we also like biffy, killers, green day etc. PS: we are a three man band, with a keyboard and guitar player at hand
matthijs
here we go again .. you might have wanted to ask this in 'quick questions' Feeling Good, Wonderwall, Tell me Baby (RHCP). Crowd pleasers and way too easy songs.

acshe
How many songs? An define easy. Audience? Tell Me Baby might be quite hard for their bassist... Anyway, start with a random and well known intro. (I remember playing the Star Wars theme and bits of Bad Romance But people turned around and listened!) 1.Uprising 2.American Idiot 3.Supermassive Black Hole 4.Who's Gotta Match 6.Muscle Museum 7.TiRO 8.PiB 9.Blackout 10. Choose a version "Somewhere Over The Rainbow"

Xut
First gig huh? probably 8 songs I guess? I once had a gig with my band and our (female)vocalist dropped out 4 weeks before the show, we played alot of green day stuff and kryptonite from 3DD, don't know if can find the setlist, but it was all really beginner stuff.. If I get you right you mean you're the guitar player and you play keys too, and you sing? 1 Muse - Uprising (not to much of a fan of this but oh well, as long as you boost the 100hz range on the bassguitar and add compression it's all good..) 2 Muse - Supermassive black hole 3 Green day - American Idiot / Holiday or so 4 Muse - Time is Running out 5 3 Doors Down - let me go 6 Muse - Feeling good 7 U2 - Vertigo 8 Muse - Plug in baby

Muse are Muse and can do whatver they want. You can't!! You're structure isn't that great, I'd try some "heavier" songs as well. Roll over the audience.... Oh and DON'T DO Exo 2 if you aren't 200% sure. Even Matt is afraid of it:LOL: And Take A Bow might be hard without an arpreggiator...

If you want to be a Muse tribute band, then be one, otherwise, that's far too much of one band if you want to either be a covers/originals band and you'll be associated with that band forever, which isn't a good thing in the long run for you. Also an encore isn't an encore if it's planned.

edmunn
Take a bow could work well with a MIDI backing for the arpeggio, using some sort of MIDI clock to help you keep in time. This would also work for the backing arpeggios in Starlight and Uprising too. You should definitely play New Born, or another song involving both Piano and Guitar! Phill
hellishly long gig for a first gig too. i doubt you'll have the stamina to play that whole set.
matthijs
Sorry to be very sceptical about this all but I haven't heard you play at all, and after the 'back in black' solo posts I can't say anything but: I don't think you'll be able to pull this of convincingly. james90
hellishly long gig for a first gig too. i doubt you'll have the stamina to play that whole set. Most stuff I played was maybe about 10 songs, but last time, because of "technical difficulties" (esperfrodo lol) everything got trashed after about three songs no wonder I haven't played a gig in a while... So, unless he wants to do that, I would suggest: 1. Muse - Neutron Star Collision 2. Green Day - Basket Case - (Massive Riff!!) 3. U2 - Where The Streets Have No Name 4. Biffy Clyro - The Captain 5.Biffy Clyro - Many Of Horror 6. Biffy Clyro - That Golden Rule encore: 7. Muse - Neutron Star Collision Seriously though, unless those are the only songs you can play, I'd choose some others.

Don't just, don't play Neutron Star Collision:facepalm: I'd skip a Biffy and do another Muse... A "heavier" one maybe? Uprising instead of NSC and Supermassive somewhere else, it's a crowd pleaser? You can't really have a Muse influenced set without a good few Muse songs in the setlist. . .
