  1. Good times. the thread where somebody said muse are too 'westernised' (I assume they meant commercial) and I was like, well they are off of Devon
  2. “I don’t know what it is about music but it’s almost like you become absorbed in something. It kind of temporarily removes you from the human race and you just forget all your problems … it’s the only thing for me that can, like, fully absorb my tension and take me away from everything else. And I think there have been various instances in my life where music’s kind of saved me a lot. It’s really almost saved me from myself.” OH feels.
  3. Argh you're right. Now the pressure is on to see them again SOON. Hahaha.
  4. I was about to say 'I dunno, it definitely seems to be a fan favourite' but that's not stopped them dropping awesome songs before.
  5. it's ringing all my emo bells right now, so much relate and the last bit my goooood i have done this an unnecessary amount of times

  7. I watched this last night when I couldn't sleep and you're right, he does sound out of shape... actually it made me wonder if he's got the same absolute bastard vocal fatigue issues as me... excuse me if I don't use the proper scientific terms as I'm not a voice doctor or even a trained singer, but: I'm struggling with not being able to handle my longer notes; it's not so much that I run out of air, but just lose power and I have to move along to the next one quicker or stick another note in so it still 'sounds good' and you don't have a gap there that makes it obvious you've ran out of steam (bellz does that LOADS in that Vieilles gig) And I identified with the way he's shouting/belting some of the words when there's a big jump in pitch, I find myself doing that sometimes in case I can't reach them otherwise, and then there's the way he changes the vowel sounds when he's at a lower pitch - he changes 'I' for 'ay' for example (noted mostly in PiB, 'ay've exposed your lies')... that comes from a fear of fudging the note or losing/squeaking it, another thing I do all the time. Buuut I had this problem in 2008 and it got better, and it's back now when it matters but anyway... it's something that comes and goes. A doc told me it's really difficult to fuck your voice up forever unless you get a physical problem like persistent nodules or other lumps and bumps.
  8. Exactly. I wrote that as one of the top reasons why I love Muse, they don't try and be pretentious with fancy-ass lyrics, it's just simple, the words are just another instrument and the music does the talking.
  9. Happy's a wonderful song. I was trying to explain this to my mum on the way to our holiday the other year, we were in the car listening to one of those Radio 1 things, and I dismissed a lot of the songs as rubbish but really loved a few things by Pharrell and Ed Sheeran - because, derp, a good pop song written with passion and creativity is great, and stuff that's following a lazy trend without any imagination is shit. DERP. Give me Beyonce or Lady Gaga or Rihanna etc etc (produced to fuckery, electronic, expressive and creative as fuck) over Sam Smith or John Legend or bloody James Bay (boring as sin, yet 'proper live singer-songwriter' type music, and based on the same pop chord sequence that plagues my fucking radio every time I turn it on - and Mercy plugs right into that which why I CANNOT cope with how bland it is, this is not my Muse... anyway...) As for 'no rock in the charts' - Muse were no. 1 for weeks, right? And it's been a long time since I followed it but just looking right now Bring Me the Horizon are at no. 55... and I can see, I dunno. Brandon Flowers, lol. I agree that rock is falling out of fashion again but for the past decade or so rock music has been HUGE. That's why the major rock festivals ended up being spoiled. I have noticed too that the songs that chart don't change as much as they used to (I have a few books that list charts back in the day) and stuff would come and go way more often than it does now, I have a weird thing about dates and could always name the year a song or album came out when I paid more attention to music than I do now (when i was really little, the radio and the charts were the only way to hear new stuff you see). But looking at the Singles chart now there's about 3 Ed Sheeran singles in there, 2 Hoziers and that Ellie Goulding (shite) song is still going strong from last year. Anyway. A good song is a good song, nobody is better than pop music /end rant
  10. idk it'd be nice to just stick the radio on in the car and not get utter dross. But Joe Public will always buy utter dross, so it'll never change.
  11. Revolt's still balls, though.
  12. I recently re-tweeted a tweet that said, 'You are not better than pop music.' I like that tweet.
