John 5 was the guitarist for Marilyn Manson but now plays with Rob Zombie, although he does have his own solo albums. He mixes country style music with shred. He is a really down to earth bloke also, not like the usual arrogant shredder.

The John 5 model isn't really about what he's done with manson (though thats where people know him from) its from his country metal stuff afterwards. Seriously, if you haven't heard any of his stuff its worth a listen just to hear some new takes on shredding.

Love his other sig model too http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.john5.ru/img/0155500806v1_hi.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.john5.ru/0155500806_usa_j5_bigsby_tele.html&usg=__izUe0G2jlUNhJQJtZru68ZzdMgk=&h=3033&w=953&sz=1559&hl=en&start=3&um=1&tbnid=kNoS78Myyj2KOM:&tbnh=150&tbnw=47&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dfender%2Bjohn%2B5%2Bbigsby%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1

since my LP is broken I've been playing my tele a lot

never realized how versatile they are...used to always think they were best for that 'twang' sound, but apparently not.

deeeeerrrrr, that's what's been said so many times in this thread! I saw slipknot using a tele the other day.

I'm not quite sure here, but the first one should have kind of a bigger, deeper sound, it being a semi-hollowbody. It will also allow you to play acoustically (I mean, it won't be exactly like an acoustic, but better than a full-on electric).

The second would probably have something of a twangier sound due to the bridge pickup. In terms of looks, I can say that the sunburst Tele's are really nice in person (that's the one I have), but the first is also great, judging from the picture.

I'd go for the adkins - I tried a squier custom ii and the duncan design p90s were phenomenal so the real deal would be even better. Additionally its a SET NECK - a very rare find with teles and it'd be nice to get more sustain out of a tele. Nice paint job too. Add the thinline I think this model could be one of those ones to really hold its value.

thinlines aren't incredibly louder than a normal solid body but they do have more to them. Like sometimes if I can't be bothered to get up and turn the plug on I'll just mess around with mine on unplugged and its loud enough to cover the scratching on the strings from a plec imo.

I am big on maple necks but out of the two I'd still probably go with the thinline.
