CitizenAgitated
Up until recently I'd always skipped it, but now I realize there was a method to Bellamy's madness. He incorporated Queen harmonies into a song, specifically "Love of My Life". When you get to the multiple Matts harmonizing then it's sheer Bliss. Burning_October
I think that Soldiers Poem is a nice enough interlude in BHaR. It's a nice change of pace from the more electronically focused first half of the album, and it's a cool experiment in Queen-esque harmonies. That being said, it should have been placed after Invincible, and the piano should have been more forward in the mix.
dougwalters
I can't appreciate this. No likey, at all. >__> Man of mystery, however, ROCK ON!

I like it's jazzy sound and think it is sheer brilliance to combine those lyrics with that sound... Loved it's quiet performance in Wembley, "for our unsung heroes"... IsakMuse
I think Soldiers Poem isn't THAT good song but it is okay.
Obi
It's alright but should be a B-Side. It's too long if it's classed as an interlude. Sounds completely of place. Then again I can't listen to Starlight, Invincible or Exo Politics either.
Wilfred
I very much like it, one of the best on Black Holes and Revelations IMHO. To be honest I don't care if it 'fits' with the rest of the album so long as it sounds good.
Burning_October
I just wanted to verify, wasn't this song attempted for Absolution, and it was a lot more orchestral and epic. Because that could be cool. Man, Muse must have some great demo's lying around.
DW
When Black Holes first came out, and for a long time after, Soldier's was my favourite song on the album. It's still one of my favourites, it's a quality piece of music.

Man, Muse must have some great demo's lying around. No it wasn't more orchestral and epic, I don't think, as that's why it was left off/not bothered to be fitted into Absolution. As far as the song goes, I think it's a lovely song though should have been a B-Side giving Glorious room to be on the album.
jamesdcfc121
i never thought of it as an interlude but i think that goes quite well actually. softer... slow it down. i don't love it. it's alright. but this thread has made me start with "take a bow"... to try it out haha. Guest QueenOfNerds
At first I hated it, then I saw them play it live at Wembley, and the lyrics and the feeling of the song really touched me. So beautiful.
bellamy'szetagirl
Soldier's Poem Appreciation thread? Oops, I'm in the wrong place. Actually the song isn't horrible, (I think maybe it should have been longer or put in a different place on the cd, as was said before). The Wembley version is better, its atmospheric and fits well with the large crowd at the time it was played.
lensip max
I like Soldier's Poem I suppose it doesn't fit well in Black Holes and Revelations so much, but then, that's not exactly my fav album anyway I still think it's a beautiful song. Juuso
Overly cheesy lyrics, horrible harmonization (which is annoying, since Matt's voice could work, especially when he's singing higher) and it doesn't really feel like a finished song overally. So, personally, I think it's pretty much the second worst song on the album.
Travisx2112
One of my faves on the album, the harmonies are top notch, the lyrics are really good and meaningful. Great tune, although i like all of BHAR equally.
