Dominic.
Anyone know what pickup Matt uses now, that uncovered one he has in a few guitars now. We presuming it's an uncovered MBK2?
Jaicen
To be honest, I've had suspicions that he's not got the MBK2/Nailbomb in a lot of his guitars for a while now, especially after the Psycho tour.
eh-D
waiting for one of the members with one to talk about the PsychoPAF, I'm assuming that's his new standard.
james90
I know the DR-00 has/had one, but not sure about any of the others.
james90
Jaicen, I know you have one of those foto flame strats. Are you familiar with this model? I quite like it Apparently from 1993. Model STR-92LS. It also has the mid boost circuit, which I think is a good move, as those are the lower output lace sensors.
Jaicen
I'm not familiar with it actually. It's quite unusual, especially the transparent? Pickguard? the Are you buying it?
james90
Nah, I don't think any are even #ForSale at the minute. It seems interesting though. The trans black one looks really nice http://brochures.yokochou.com/guitar-and-amp/fenderjapan/1993vol2/en_09.html
Cider
Jaicen, I keep seeing these "rumors" on TGP that the Woolly Mammoth and Mastotron are basically the same, except that the Mastotron has an extra pot and sub switch. Is that true? Asking because... Royal Blood
Jaicen
The difference between the two, is that Zvex pays licensing fees to a third party for one of them..

Jaicen
Woah, so the circuit really is the same? If you find that surprising, prepare to have your mind blown: It's a Fuzz Face It's the same circuit essentially, the pinch knob is in series with the 100k feedback resistor from the emitter of Q1 to the base of Q2. This reduces the feedback voltage which throws the bias out, whilst also raising the apparent gain allowing the second transistor to be driven into cutoff. If you have a cheap Dunlop silicon ff, you could mod it to do the same thing by adding a pot.

Dominic.
Are KnT gonna make it into a magazine?
james90
We're going to become famous just like them. And I recall this board (though not specifically the K&Ts) made it into a magazine years back. I forgot which one, but that's where the text at the bottom of the page came from 'Pornogenic' - this refers to pics of Muse (and their crotch regions) edit: It was Triple J magazine, sometime in 2010. nerd herd
Any tips for painting a pedal enclosure? Was just going to clean it with white spirit then spray a couple of coats of paint.
Jaicen
The best tip is to make peace with the fact that the pain is probably going to chip and wear very easily. The usual Hammond enclosures just don't seem to take paint well. Zack uses some sort of automotive urethane lacquer to make his more robust, but it's still not easy to get the primer to adhere properly.

I still find it interesting that Z Vex has to pay someone loyalty fee for the WM if it's just a Fuzz Face clone.

I take it using some clear lacquer on top doesn't make much difference then, if the paint doesn't stick very well? Halfords has car stuff so might try that. Shame there weren't any anodised enclosure in stock when I bought this.

I have been burned by that, I'll show you an example in the morning

What peddle did you end up building? On the one pedal that I successfully built, I tried swirling the enclosure, but it went horribly wrong. I guess they're made of different materials or something Don't get the Halfords stuff, it's full of plasticizers so it never gets fully hard. I have been burned by that, I'll show you an example in the morning I mentioned this to you recently. Someone's uploaded a demo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbeEnvrD7ag Apparently those on TGP can hear the difference between this and an original. I guess you can only hear it if you spend $2000 on an original.

I ruined two strings trying to get it to fit.
