  1. BITM is probably one of the most experimental and unique songs they’ve ever made Yeah the guitar is Rage-inspired but the fusion of that and the phyrigian, pitch shifted vocal scales, the tribal drums, the ethereal chorus, the strings, nigh R&B verses, electronic bass wubs...?
  2.  Stumbled upon this by accident this morning and was gonna post it here for that exact reason need that in short clip form for any edgy posts about being above people who like anything post-Black Holes  The “I see a lot of people referring to A4s” made me laugh for some reason too, maybe reminded me of a bunch of us. Feel it would be amusing to hear them talk more about what they see fans say.  Sneaky confirmation of Asia tour after Europe as well (which isn’t a huge revelation considering the Singapore date but still, handy to know for sure as I’m thinking of going over)
  3. Â You could see about 8 gigs for that price
  4. I would’ve happily gone to every single gig from 2006-2008 and I think about that so often that it might be more accurate to say it haunts me Made even worse knowing how relatively close my becoming a fan was to that era. Hell, I was first turned onto their music in 2006 I think but didn’t find out who they were for another 3 years.
  5. Ooh, nice. Suprised to see it get picked up by mainstream news, gives a fair voice/explanation for the people who chose to take part as well. Hopefully a news outlet asking reps for details will stop it from getting ignored like I assumed it would.
  6. I think big guitar chords would maybe kill it a bit tbh. It being synth/bass dominant sets it apart imo, it’s just those elements that needs to be beefed up a bit. Anyone remember if Matt gave some kinda timeline for the Japan tour when he mentioned it a while back? Wondering if it might be timed around that Singapore gig in late September. Would be cool if it was a chunky 4/5 shows, not done one that extensive since BH&R iirc. Would make for a cool experience to potentially go over and experience the whole thing as well.
  7. I love ST but I’mma have to stop you right there, chief
  8. My feelings on Abso have been the same for years now tbh Stockholm - a goat Muse song, no debates Butterflies - ^ RBS - ^ —- Hysteria - great kinda industrial pop/rock song, easy to take for granted AP - again, great, nice and pounding, top notch vocals. Bridges/outro feel a smidge...aimless though? idk FAWY - chorus is flawed but still v sweet —- Blackout - nice I guess, not one I often seek out on-record though S4A - again, it’s...okay? the pay-offs nice but it takes a lot of plodding to get there, really have to be in the mood to enjoy —- TIRO - actually a great sleezy pop rock vibe for the verses and bridge but the choruses and pre-choruses are mindnumbingly dull and repetitive and don’t change at all by the end TSP - just kinda there, riff is particularly meh, chorus is a saving grace TOADA - maybe the worst of Muse’s bog standard rock tracks, looked fun enough live but the studio version is just kinda obnoxious Add on to that a pretty poor master and maybe the joint worst flow in their discography and it’s not an easy album to sit through for me. Can’t remember the last time I did. Sorry bois. Mildly amazes me that it’s up there with Origin for so many people, it being ‘classic Muse’ aside.
  9. Gonna expose the truth - if TOADA was on the 2nd half of Showbiz, it’d be torn apart for the same reasons as Sober and Overdue (minus the lyrics) Fight it, I dare you DD is also just ST’s equivalent of TSP in that it’s a low point ‘cos it lacks creativity but TSP probs wins out by virtue of being more active.
  10. It maybe has the two absolute highs with Stockholm and Butterflies but it also has the lowest low (TOADA) and I’d say the core of ST is at least on par, if not generally a smidge better tbh.
  11. Better flow, better master, more varied and interesting sounds without losing cohesion, more fun, nothing on the level of TOADA
  12. Probs forgot that happened. Remember that studio version they were meant to get round to? lmao
  13. Ah thank god, I thought I’d missed them covering that mega choon properly. Still, always fun/cute to see them transform back into pre-Muse teenagers though.
  14. It’s not really about chasing the past, that’d be pointless. Just seeing a band I love. I don’t think Muse have had a definitive peak live anyway so, if anything, my love for a tour is just based on how much I like whatever album it’s for.
  15. Can’t speak for some of the smaller places but, yeah, Italy, France and Manchester should get you a good crowd. Japan is v good too, guessing you don’t mean that far though. I might go next year, depending.
  16. Curious to how this would work, or is it not already the setlist system? Eh, not so much for me. Gig-going (particularly for Muse) is probably my main hobby tbh, it’s all I really spend owt on.
  17. Genuinely considered getting a qualification in some area of production at one point in the hopes of somehow getting into the Muse crew... if only you could get a season ticket for a tour I feel like it’s probably a surprising amount, I spoke to just a couple of random people in the SBE queue who’d been to north of 50 and they can’t have been to far from my age. It’s not even so much a money thing ‘cos getting around a decent amount of Europe isn’t that bad, it’s more justifying it and not wanting to burn myself out. With 2019 and 2020 being my 10 year anniversaries of being a fan and seeing them for the first time though, I’m considering going a bit extra as a wee celebration.
  18. Maybe, I can sort of see both sides. Matt playing it on guitar would be a quick way to make the song sound bigger. I have a thing about liking to see a song ‘recreated’ live as it is on the record where possible though, and I think some tweaks to the mix could solve the slight flatness there atm. I like seeing Matt switch roles on-stage too but I think I got enough of that kick watching him go between synth, piano and mic tbh, a guitar strapped on his back might just make him look encumbered to me, idk. Has that ever happened before though, translating a part to bass live for Chris to do? Off the top of my head, I can’t think of owt.
