  1. Course there’s always variables, someone could push in up the queue, doors could open at different times, etc. etc. but those are all accepted risks that are mostly out of anyone’s control. It’s happened to most people who queue up like that at some point but all you can really do is say “shit happens”. It’s obviously different when you make it organised and money-based though. It’s not one arsehole pushing in or pot-luck with the doors, it’s a predeterminate chunk of people being handed barrier spots over other fans ‘cos they can afford to pay more. People who have no option but to queue up shouldn’t have to worry about that. But like you say, it sucks so I don’t need to explain it to you. Unfortunately it looks like it’s here to stay since the backlash was never really loud enough and people ended up feeling like they had no choice but to cave and buy in.
  2. That’s only a small part of it for me tbh. My issue with the concept is that fans who religiously queue up for entire days, sometimes overnight, will start potentially missing the spots they work so hard to get simply because someone else paid an amount of money they can’t afford to drop on one ticket. Regardless of whether the person in what could’ve been their spot is a diehard fan or only knows 1 song, it’s still almost inevitably coming at the expense of someone who put in the physical effort queueing. I don’t like getting overly emotionally invested in things like this but maybe ‘cos I’d actually consider myself of these people, it genuinely gets to me a lot to say the least. Personally, if I’d queued up since 6am or earlier and missed out on a barrier spot ‘cos of a VIP, them being a big fan wouldn’t make me feel much better.
  3. 🙌🙌🙌 Sets have been damn solid imo, and 3 shows in is always too early to start complaining about rotation. We’ve already seen Blockades, Resistance, Something Human and Isolated System are up for rotation early on and I’d expect more to be in the running as the tour goes on and they get more comfortable with the set up/schedule. Just about every band their size has at least a few songs they play at every show and they wouldn’t get the reaction they get if people were sick of them. I love PIB, Supermassive and Starlight and I’ve seen them ~13-15 times going on 20+ by the end of the year. It’s definitely not a crime 😂 Something as old, obscure and taxing as Showbiz (which only really got good reactions at SBE and La Cigale tmk) was never gonna get played, tho it will in Mexico apparently. It wouldn’t really fit in much either.
  4. Don’t like speculating yet since it’s only been 3 gigs but if I had to guess, I’d be surprised if CID made the call ‘cos...money. The band have never been known to talk about or address controversies either, possibly hence the silence. That said, if it is their call, I’d say don’t fall out with them over it. Their hearts’ll have been in the right place, it’s just the lack of communication that’d obviously be wrong but that can be at least somewhat fixed with refunds etc. One thing’s for sure, I hope the complaints lead to explanations and refunds and not “sorry we’ll start letting VIPs in extra early to make up for it” 😂
  5. In fact, I think the only other non-single have this kinda strong longevity is CE? But that gets badgered about all the time and isn’t half as hard to perform. The band never really mention TAB when asked about their favourite songs or live songs but it must be up there, someone should ask so we can hear them confess their love 😍
  6. I love how consistently TAB has shown up beyond it’s respective tour over the years, and without even really being requested. One of the v few non-singles to do so I think and soooooo deservedly ❤️
  7. I didn’t mean ‘you’ as in you specifically, just a general/hypothetical ‘you’ 😅
  8. Bored at work, sketched my new crush tee hee
  9. Anyone see the rumour/advert of them adding another date on the 2nd? Surely not with the trickling sales...
  10. I actually love this big lad so much, hope he knows the smiles he brings
  11. Dang, so rotation’s really that limited. At least Blockades is confirmed on the cards (sorta called a rotation w/ BITM in the setlist thread) though, and TAB a staple. Then again, it says “as of 02/22/19” at the top so I’m sure it’s subject to change as time goes on.
  12. Yeah no, don’t feel the need to apologise. I wanna stress that I’m not intentionally shaming anyone or trying to start any back-and-forths. What you spend your money on is your prerogative, and I’m fully aware some people won’t even be buying VIP for early access. But, if you are buying it for that reason, then whether hardcore fan or casual, you’re spending money to gain an advantage over the people who’ve queued up for hours, which I personally can’t side with. That’s just how I see it and I find that viewpoint hard to shake. Signing petitions or showing your support against it in other ways is good but, ultimately, all these companies care about is whether the ticket gets bought or not, so if you buy it you are telling them to keep doing it and giving them license to potentially go even further in the future. As the old saying goes, the only meaningful vote is with your wallet. Basically, you’re not bad people or fans, I just don’t agree with it and think it’s ultimately fair that everyone got/gets let in at the same time (tho you do deserve your money back since it wasn’t announced).
  13. Now oi, driving and posting is defo a legal thing 👮‍♂️
  14. Ehhhhh? Might sound naive but is it maybe a legal thing in Texas? I know it gets dead hot there so maybe they don’t want people potentially risking their health by queueing up outside all day.
  15. Don’t have facey b so cannae read it, what’s the story? 5 mins is way more than enough tbf. If you’ve ever seriously queued up for a good barrier spot, you know literally ever half second counts when those doors open.
  16. Why not both? 🤷‍♀️ That said, when we say ‘the ones selling it’, Muse wouldn’t be the people I’d point the finger at ‘cos I don’t believe for one second they’re happy about the idea of people paying to get to the front. They share some responsibility since you’d think they have the power to ultimately veto it but I wonder if it’s a call they’ve been pushed into by either management, promoters or even venues (not sure which of thise get a say since I’m admittedly not clued up enough on that industry). Either way, it’s a reeeally scummy practice that sadly looks like it’s gonna become standard going forward, if it isn’t already.
  17. I wouldn’t say “fuck them” but, imo, it’s a practice that you are somewhat in the wrong for supporting in the first place. Whether it’s easy for you to afford or not, the fact that you’re willing to use money to potentially take a barrier spot off someone who’s queued for most of the day is shitty. So I struggle to have sympathy when it backfires and the odds are evened up again. That said, it should absolutely be advertised if they are changing it (tho tbh I think it was more likely an error of the venue unfortunately).
  18. Algorithm (Alt.) Pressure The Dark Side Supermassive Black Hole Break It To Me / Blockades / MK Ultra Propaganda Uprising Pray Piano Medley (Feeling Good/Sunburn/Ruled By Secrecy/Eurasia/Butterflies solo/Apocalypse Please) Dig Down (Acoustic Gospel) Madness Invincible / Resistance Mercy / Get Up And Fight Knights Of Cydonia New D&B Jam Unsustainable Thought Contagion Time Is Running Out Interlude - Hysteria The Void Algorithm Map Of The Problematique / Bliss / New Born Take A Bow ~guitar noise~ Metal Medley (Stockholm/Assassin/The Handler/Reapers/Psycho/Dead Star/Micro Cuts) Prelude Starlight Plug In Baby
  19. Either would work imo, hard to choose. One the one hand, TAB’s a godly electro-rock behemoth that’s always a perfect climax but, on the other, Starlight coming after is a sweet mini recreation of the Black Holes transition and it’s nice to end on a more laid back classic while Matt greets the crowd. I’m assuming he did a barrier walk in Houston? My stream crashed out by then.
  20. Looking at the set, I’d say TAB, BITM, Dig Down and maybe Hysteria are rotatable slots. Love the TAB > Starlight combo to close the main set btw, just a shame Prelude gets in the way. Was something I was gonna suggest before the show.
  21. Fuck me that is actually incredible. And that ‘Guitar Noise’ as well? One of my fave things I’ve heard Matt do live in ages, sounds like something out of a sci-fi horror film. Takes me back to the days that first got me hooked on Muse, with Matt making all these sounds with his guitar that I didn’t know existed 😍 Will the ST era ever STOP giving?
  22. Which one is it then, though? ‘Cos with Drones the criticism was that they weren’t doing enough with the time they had, and now it’s that they’re doing too much and rushing. They’ve always been the kind of band to shut up and get on with it and, with such an elaborate production, they’ll have had to keep things v tight timing-wise. I think the fact they’re squeezing so much in is great, they’ve really listened and tried their best to fill the set out with more of their own stuff imo.
  23. I get more of an IS / Overture vibe. So with how Matt says “I wrote that for something else”, is this technically another ‘Matthew Bellamy’ piece like The International, as opposed to Muse? Guess we’ll have to see how it’s marketed whenever it comes out.
  24. Think we could well be seeing the return of Unsus tour length sets once they hit stadiums if they’re already doing 2 hours of 19 full songs, a 15 minute medley and 4 interludes, on top of the other little intros and outros. Except this time the album’s 1000x better. Ah if only I could be arsed to go back through months and months of posts to where I said I thought sets could be a fair amount longer with how short ST is and everyone doubted me 😎
