Muse: "We wish Fury was more popular" Muse: *Don't include it in the setlist polls*
-
Yeah in another new interview he pretty much said it exactly like you have interpreted it. If we just turn off the news, life is pretty good.

I'm guessing he means there are two guitars at that point, the riff and the solo.

2001 and "Matt stated that after this gig, he woke up in the morning to a "clammy" female fan sitting on the end of his bed who he believed had either broken into his room, or had bribed the receptionist.[4] He described this as the most awkward incident he has had with a fan and it is implied that he politely asked her to leave his room." Maybe he's looking to revisit old memories.

You just made me realise how good TIRO is in comparison to the new stuff. And I don't even like it that much. Also made me think that it wouldn't sound out of place if it was released today. Absolution has aged well.

Well no it's not very complex, but that wasn't why people were put off by it, considering Muse had only released Showbiz at that point. I think it was more about fans who liked that they sounded like Radiohead and a little like bands like Ash, which all went away in 2001.

Actually yes. I've heard accounts from people back in the day swearing off Muse after PIB. And Absolution was seen as selling out by many.

I can say that a lot of fans were thinking/wishing that Supermassive Black Hole was a prank song when it was leaked back in 2006.

While I agree that Madness is a great demonstration of Matt's vocal ability (along with most of T2L in general), I'm pretty doubtful that Matt could ever sing the whole thing properly in the original key. Even the earliest performances where they ONLY played that song (Skalvan in Stockholm for example) they did it in a lower key, and Matt was REALLY pushing himself for that ending.

I’d say it’s anything but uninspired. Now I’m not saying this is a necessarily good thing, but this isn’t really like anything we’ve heard by them before, and it’s clear they’re inspired by new things.

How long is the song supposed to be? The version I heard was about 3:38, but people keep saying it goes on for too long? I like it anyway. Edit: actually, third time listening and I’m already a bit bored. We’ll see how this turns out.

So, fearing that the new song will be Madness 3.0 means they consider all pop music drivel and think it's un-musey? And then a joke. Yeah sorry man, those examples do not prove your point.

Quite right. But you know what's also, subjective? This This. And oh look, this as well. You know you're basically just addressing one person atm, right? A person who isn't even a regular here. I'm pretty sure most people who have posted in this thread in the last couple of days enjoy quite a bit of pop music.

I think we can see some limits of Matt's abilities in songs like MK Ultra and The Handler, where the odd timing when combined with singing has meant that he either omitted the guitar part (MK Ultra) or intentionally cut off the mic feed so he could practice in a live setting before getting it right (The Handler). I honestly hope that he keeps practicing that, because that would really add an element to their music for me. Or just start using Morgan properly instead of just for show (which it feels like sometimes). Give the man a guitar! Also despite how technically wanky it might sound, I really wish Muse would experiment with more technical stuff in terms of rhythm and time. I know they dabble with more time signature stuff than you might think, but that's not the point. I want something that SOUNDS weird. Like, back in 2006 they joked about almost becoming an experimental jazz band and I'm just like...yes. Give me Muse's take on that! Something like this would suit Muse imo: (which I now realise is a bit like what Muse did with Popcorn. So yeah do that...but with something other than Popcorn. I think you're thinking of this.

Oh yeah that's vibrato but it's like...really ordinary. I mean it's nothing special for Matt or in fact any singer who can do vibrato.
-
Yeah my bet is that we'll get similar posters for the others soon (Basically what they did with Dig Down as well). Chris specifically said he didn't want to sing lead again.

Vibrato? Matt used that in every single song and it has always come naturally to him. Do you mean vocal runs? Like in “”Show me how it’s dOoOnee”?
-
Undisclosed is pretty average vocally.

I miss the days when Muse didn't just attempt genres that were popular the year(s) before.

Yeah what Jobby said. And here I compiled the songs from his list that show up more than once: Take A Bow Butterflies & Hurricanes Reapers Animals Futurism Darkshines City of Delusion Also I would add The Handler for bass and vocals.

I'm guessing it was you I replied to on Reddit as well but my guess is it stands for promotions director.
