irishfan5
Any tips on sneaking into GA? I have seated tickets and really love being in the pit at concerts. I'm going to try and go for it( I know there is not much chance of succeeding), but any tips or stories from people that have done it would be helpful

cizzlen
I'm planning to get up real early on Friday and head over to the United Center straight from Milwaukee. Since Chicago is a big city I'm guessing people are going to be lined up early. My question is how early or when is the best time to get lined up for these bigger venues in particular to get the barrier. The next night in Detroit may not be so bad... Either way barrier here I come!!

Either way barrier here I come!! For the New York gig I managed to show up only 1.5 hours before they let the crowd in and was able to be about 5th row in front of Matt. Once Matt threw his glasses into the crowd, people went nuts diving on the floor for them and I made my move to the 2nd row. So, in my experience, you really don't have to show up SUPER early to have an AMAZING spot.
gocanux
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBdymtyXt8Y Coming soon to a barrier near you. Lisa, that's brilliant! David Sedaris is a hoot... Any tips on sneaking into GA? I have seated tickets and really love being in the pit at concerts. I'm going to try and go for it( I know there is not much chance of succeeding), but any tips or stories from people that have done it would be helpful People tried that at Green Day, ended up being escorted from the arena and missed the show. Not too bright...

I'll grab my breakfast and lunch and probably get there a couple hours before noon to start queuing. I'll be happy as long as I'm in the first 5 rows because I've been dreaming about this moment since late 05'. Wow... Muse is the greatest thing to ever happen to my life I don't have any expectations. All I know is I'm not walking out of there the same again. supermassivemattbellamy
my worst pit experience was seeing Radiohead in Mexico last year. we were too tired to queue for one of the nights and ended up being somewhere in the fourth row in front of Jonny. this was a huge mistake i started having a panic attack halfway through the opening song because the crowd was pushing so badly and this tiny Mexican girl was falling on top of me, trying to grab onto me otherwise she would have been seriously injured. i was in a sideways position for about a minute, fearing that someone would actually break my ankles. my friend, who was one row up from me, was begging the security to pull her out of the pit but he couldn't do it. my boyfriend ended up pulling me out as i was shaking and trying my best to catch my breath the gig was terrific but i will never EVER go for the first few rows behind the barrier. if you want a good spot, then you'll have to queue for hours. you are going to end up with some bruising on your arms if you do rail, but at least you have something to grab onto and you can always pull yourself up a little so the rail isn't crushing your diaphragm

RiverIsis
point taken... from people who have been there... is the show anywhere near as good from seats? Its a different experience from the seats. However, its preferrable for me. I can see, hear, dance and don't have to worry about being moshed. Here's some footage I took in Atlanta I'm not getting it to upload So here's a picture Edited March 11, 2010 by RiverIsis

When they go on the floor, one of them can take off there bracelet and give it too their friend along with their floor ticket, the friend then goes to the lobby. gives you the bracelet and ticket, then you go down, and REPEAT. once youre down their you are stuck though so get all your piss and beer breaks out of the way

AchtungMuse
well, GA was probably sold out. therefore..not really possible to get GA. and that sucks. But there's always musebay on here. Or if you're desperate, scalpers. I've also found that for other bands, there are always people with spare GA's in line who are looking to sell to fans. Besides, it's better to not be in GA and have a seat than get caught and kicked out.
TaB
I was moshing in Boston and people around me and the pit looked seriously miffed. Why? I don't get it. Pit...where does it come from...hmmmm...perhaps MOSH pit? It seemed like a lot of people just wanted to stand there with their arms folded, doing minimal effort head-nodding. So distressing. Why go to a show and be in the pit if you don't want to feed off of the energy of the band and the music and go NUTS?

Let's encourage as many people as possible to do the same so you can REALLY overcrowd the GA area! Then, stand back and watch the crush! jurrassitol15
point taken... from people who have been there... is the show anywhere near as good from seats? i had nosebleed seats and it sucked...you got to see the whole light show but its not the same as being up close...but second night was way way way better... Find 2 people that have GA. When they go on the floor, one of them can take off there bracelet and give it too their friend along with their floor ticket, the friend then goes to the lobby. gives you the bracelet and ticket, then you go down, and REPEAT. once youre down their you are stuck though so get all your piss and beer breaks out of the way one thing though...the wristbands are usually really really hard to get off and most of the time are stuck/done up as tight as possible without cutting off circulation...and if the wristband is tampered with, you can say goodbye to getting back into the pit! dont do it...there is a reason why they limit the amount of tickets for the GA! The show should be enjoyed no matter where they are.

MisfitSpazz01
Just a tip for anyone carrying money (not sure if this has already been mentioned): I always found it really easy to take a plain paper envelope, stick some money in, and maybe an ID if it's needed, then pin the envelope (not spearing the cash through, just the top and flap of the envelope) to the inside waistband of my jeans. It's like a super discreet money belt, without the hassle of an actual belt. You can also pin it to the inside of your pocket if you're worried about feeling the envelope against your waist. I never had a problem with feeling the envelope - the sweat that will undoubtedly accumulate softens up the envelope a bit, but doesn't hurt the money, honey. SIDENOTE: Totally embarrassed to admit it, but the roughest pit I've ever been in was for Bush , way back when they were at Live 105 BFD with No Doubt. It was only rough because the security guards were total pricks, and the pit was on a steep slanted hill. So everyone was falling down into security, and security was literally punching and pushing people back up. It sounds like Muse doesn't necessarily get a circle pit going or anything, just a huge mob of people all shoving to the front.
cheese on toast
+ 1 to these. Seriously, have you heard about safety? If you didn't get to have GA tickets, get over it. It's not the end of the world. Exactly, jeez. If someone's willing to go to those kind of lengths to get into the pit, then they might as well buy GA tickets from a scalper and let a deserving fan have the seats they would have left empty.
