  1. I like how this board now has our own version of Craigslist's Missed Connections.
  2. Thanks for everyone's replies to my Nikon or Canon questions. Of course, now I'm going to throw a wrench in things, because I'm thinking about a Pentax. The K30 looks pretty good, and it's pretty cheap as well. There's also the K-5IIs, which also looks pretty awesome, but is over twice as much as the K30. I'm thinking about Pentax, because I have a Pentax SLR, with a couple lenses, and the lenses should be able to be used on a newer Pentax DSLR (I believe Pentax lenses fit all Pentax cameras since the 1970's, or something like that). Basically, I could use the lenses I already have, add in a newer long-range lens, and probably be OK for what I want it for. Also, it's mostly vacation that I want the Pentax for, and it's weather-sealed and works in cold weather, and all that stuff. So, does anyone have any experience with the K30? Compared to the K30, does the K-5IIs seem like it's worth the extra money? Is there a really good reason why I shouldn't buy Pentax at all?
  3. I posted this in Banter, too, but this is a better thread for it: What cameras do people like? I'm specifically looking for a DSLR, and I've read that the Nikon D3100 is a good all-rounder. I can get it, with two lenses, for under $600.00, which is very nice. But I've also heard good things about Canon (a lot of people seem to love the Rebel). I really can't go over $1,000.00 right now, with at least one good lens. I'd really like to be able to spend less than $1,000.00 for the camera body, a couple lenses, some filters, and a flash - it seems like I could easily do that with Nikon D3100. But what do you guys recommend? (I've also been looking at the Nikon D5100 - if I go with Nikon, is the 5100 worth the extra money over the 3100?)
  4. Ack! In Draw Something I thought I was drawing "single." Really, I was supposed to be drawing Potato. Sorry about that.

  5. Omg congrats Eliza!!!!! I'm so happy for you  ahh that's so great, you beat cancer and shows it who's boss :awesome:

  6. No more cancer! Two months and the scan was totally clear. And my doctor says that there's at least an 85% chance it won't come back. :awesome:

  7. WHAT? That's genius!

  8. :awesome: Dinosaurs are cool. When I was unemployed for awhile, I volunteered as a fossil preparator at the Museum of Natural History. I was covered in prehistoric dinosaur dust every day. :)
  9. I got your postcard! <3 I LOVE DINOSAURS! You're very welcome and thank yooooou.

  10. Ahh I'm sorry! I'll try to delete and make some space. Thank you for defending me in the Fuckery thread by the way :(

  11. Damnit Melon, you've exceeded your PM storage space again. :) I can't get on Facebook when I'm at work.

  12. Congrats and good news about everything mostly coming up clean! :awesome:

  13. NOM NOM. That sounds awesome and easy! Thanks! I've never herad of champagne salad dressing. Hmm.

  14. Just in case you want it, the recipe is embarrassingly easy. There's more to the original recipe - something about grapes, but this is how I make it:

    Girard's Champagne Salad Dressing

    Curry powder

    Chicken

    Rice

Mix the dressing (maybe 1/4 cup for one large chicken breast) and curry together (however much curry you want in it - I put in a lot). Marinate cut up chicken in mixture. Cook chicken. Cook rice (separately). Mix chicken and rice together to coat rice with curry mixture.

Really easy, cheap, and I really like it - then again, I love curry powder.

You can tell I'm a gourmet.
