drahcir1984
I motion for them to play Thompson Bolling arena in the fall Is there a way to actually make this a possibility? Cuz I'd picket, dude. I'd post and picket and preach and prance ("straightly") and proclaim that MUSE RULES!!! I would advertise that attending the concert would doubtlessly be in everyone's individual self-interest. The human spirit is not dead. Logic has little power over the "qualia storm" of humanity. (Forgive my seeming nonsense. Muse has me speaking all crazy expressive. Rest assured, though, I don't speak nonsense--e.g., "qualia" is an incredibly meaningful word with immense philosophical implications {philosophy of mind is perhaps my greatest interest in the world, even though I'll be getting a degree in computer science come May}. What is more fascinating than consciousness?)

drahcir1984
I dig your enthusiasm. So before this show had you not heard much of their music? I had heard most all of it, actually. And I really "appreciated" it (in that I liked their music, but it wasn't really "doing it" for me). Much of that can be attributed to my little sister (she's only 2 1/2 years younger, but whatever). I hate to say this, but she actually got into Muse via Stephenie Meyer.... (It wouldn't feel so shameful if Twilight wasn't the ridiculously huge cultural phenomenon that it is.) And my reaction to that fact is parallel in a way to my reaction to Muse in the past. (see my post here: http://board.muse.mu/showpost.php?p=7453223&postcount=17--it kind of explains my situation). My sister is obsessed with a few things; namely: Phantom of the Opera, Harry Potter, Twilight, and Muse. And when a person is truly, almost manically obsessed with something, the only way I can react is to balance-out the situation. You can like something...and you can like something too much. My sister tends to favor the latter when it comes to a few things. And Muse has been one of them. So believe me...I had heard pretty much everything that Muse has ever done before the concert. But like staring into the sun, I had to squint my eyes. My sister's over-enthusiasm rendered my under-enthusiasm. But seeing them live shattered any sort of psychological barrier I had against accepting and absorbing Muse. In a sense (simplistically), I have gone from the "everyone thinks it's cool--so I don't think it's cool" mentality, to the "Holy shit! Oh my God! Jesus lives in my religious experiences! Muse is amazing! Matt is a true genius! My nervous system is melting!!!" I am pleasantly shocked and awed by the depth and profundity that the visual/video experiences added to their music (if I knew their music better and could refer to their songs off the top of my head without having to resort to in depth research, I could present a full-blown analysis about how the video presentation of a couple of songs in particular--all of which I believe were off The Resistance...songs that were only so-so in my mind until they were experienced with the visual enhancements [they went from vague and obscure to meaningful and {as suspected} relevant social statements] added leagues of depth to songs that I hadn't given the benefit of the doubt to previously). Anyway.... I'm sorry if that wasn't very well written. Muse (and the message board) seems to bring out my loquacity.
drahcir1984
This, all of it. But prancing? Haha! I know.... But I had to keep up the alliteration, yo! (and on a side note, screw so many contemporary connotations anyway: 'gay' used to mean "happy;" 'prance' used to refer to a proud, impressive gait; and hell...wasn't Prancer one of the eight reindeer who helped good ol' St. Nick deliver my presents on the 25th of December? "Prancin'" oughta be some cool shit! ). Yo bro! I was prancin'--straight mad-ass-dancin' at dat groovy Muse concert the other night! I like you, you think a lot more than the average person. Thank you for noticing. I'm just trying to have fun, and it's nice to be appreciated.

Asdfaeou
My sister is obsessed with a few things; namely: Phantom of the Opera, Harry Potter, Twilight, and Muse. Phantom and Twlight? How can one have such good tastes and such bad tastes at the same time? Sorry, sorry. Shutting off Twlight hatred. Just ignore me.

rufygirl
That's because the ATL concert was the coolest thing since Antarctica became conscious of its frigid existence. Existential angst is always a cold mistress. And ice only seems to exacerbate the situation. What I mean is that Muse is so cool they RULE!!! Your posts are making me smile. C-Payne5
Phantom and Twlight? How can one have such good tastes and such bad tastes at the same time? Sorry, sorry. Shutting off Twlight hatred. Just ignore me. Phanotm= Great; Harry Potter= Great; Muse= Great; Twilight= not so much but i do want to go on a little rant here about twilight. Regardless of what we think about the movies and books, the soundtracks for the movies are really good bringing in bands like Muse, MuteMath, the Killers, ect... and i will admit i have read them and honestly they were a little better than I expected, but that doesn't mean that I am a fan of it. I just thought it was better than i anticipated. But nonetheless can one deny that the author has great taste in music if Muse is in fact her favorite band? it does suck that there are now crazy 13 yr old girls who claim to love muse because they know SMBH from twilight but it doesn't change the fact that both that song and the soundtracks for the movies are good. sorry for that and i hope you all don't hate me for it haha. Couldn't have written it better except that Twilight = vampire porn. Do I care that twi-fans made the band bigger and able to do more dates so I can attend? not really. Its all success. I think its all rather ironic that people get upset that Muse was Meyer's muse...

Great to hear you have got over your preconceptions (I understand totally why you were put off) and nice to hear how much the visuals enhanced your experience. That's obviously the intention but they've been received with a fair amount of grumbling on the board, so great to hear the reaction of someone who wasn't so into Muse before seeing them live. amber
There was a fan (a boardie) from FL that won a M&G w/ Muse after the Atlanta gig. Matt told this fan that they were planning to play the Tampa area this fall. That's about all we know. But I know now my mind is going crazy with what other possible SE gigs they might be planning! They would do really well in any big city in Florida. I'm going to start saving my money, so I can go to a couple dates when they (hopefully) come back.
