Christ is this still going on

I'm always bitching about the tendency people have to rank things... why do we do that? Why can we not appreciate the value of something on its own terms without comparing its value to 103 other things? There used to be loads of threads like 'song vs song' or 'band vs band' & the arguments were so damn pointless, I don't get why it matters to people where things rank, especially if it's on an unquantifiable scale, like 'amount of good'

But carry on listing songs so i can carry on saying you're wrong because that's fun

I like to rank things to put them into perspective. I can then go through Muse songs and have them be more enjoyable as they go on.

Why nit? Why own fish? Why listen to music in the first place? Because it's fun and satisfying. I don't see you judging people doing other things because they find it fun.

That's like putting your bare hand in a bees nest just to taste some honey once you've been stung.

The issue being that you already have jars of honey saved away and don't need to get stung.

This is a shit analogy but still, why listen to the shit songs? Just listen to the good ones. You don't need to rank them, you know what they are.

that's because I'm not here to judge all the things people find fun. (I was serious when I said carry on ranking, I do find it fun)

I'm just saying I'd rather people talk about how talented someone is on their own merits rather than comparing them to others all the time, it gets annoying. I used to get annoyed when people discussed my band/music by comparing it to other music. but I do understand that it's human nature to put things in context so I'm not being entirely serious.

Just how many Muse songs are there, actually? My playlist has 128 songs, but there might be some duplicates.

I've got a new list with 145 tracks by Muse, not counting alternative versions of songs (often played live), songs where somebody not from Muse is singing, and any jams played at live events (because there are at least a hundred of those...).
