Neil.
do you get what i mean about the body looking better suited to a wider neck?
hooglebug
not really. the body is about as wide as your average bass, maybe a touch wider, 10mm or so, but shorter than most, hence my concerns with balance.
Neil.
I always thought your shapes reminded me of the ritter shapes. Maybe it'd be worth your while to see what it's like compared to those size wise?
hooglebug
they're about the same width, waist on mine is bigger and the bass horn on mine is shorter

hooglebug
those basses have been bugging me. so iv changed them a bit to make them longer and therefor give better balance (hopefully!) but i love the original shapes, so im trying them as a guitar and see what it looks like

hooglebug
yeah still waiting for the weather and temp to get in line together. its either sunny and freezing or warm and too damp. AND still havent got my hands on any inserts at a reasonable price. got 1000 little bolts to use but no inserts to screw them into. i found a place where they're £20 for 1000. yay i thought. out of stock. got quotes for £7 and £9 - per 100. then found some for £35.50 per 1000. ok then, reasonable enough. put it in basket, checkout - vat is £9, postage is £12.50. turns into £57 per 1000. bugger that. anyway, tried that bass shape as a guitar. i like it. needs a name
cheddatom
that's nice! what are these "inserts" of which you speak?
hooglebug
little threaded inserts to screw bolts into. so instead of having wood screws holding pickup rings and cavity covers on, you have little bolts
cheddatom
ahhh, yeh, like in my schecter. Do they have a thread on the outside as well, or do you glue them in?
hooglebug
you can get ones that have a thread on the outside or just push in ones
cheddatom
I was thinking if you wanted just push in ones you could just tap some metal dowel yourself, but those prices you quoted mean that'd be stupid.
hooglebug
yeah but the push in ones have knurled outsides so they stay in
