So the professional is below the Elite? It still doesn't make sense. It's like a pre-upgraded USA Standard? I played an elite a couple of days ago, I like the neck but the stupid cutout for the truss rod is stupid.

Well they didn't work in certain conditions, something to do with the way the wire coil antennae lays on the ground. On stages with metal risers etc, they wouldn't work at all. Plus, the connector used to fail making them intermittent. Basicsy, they were the sort of thing that's cool if you make it and gig it yourself, but not really if you're selling them for $300+

I can forgive the stab pots, who saw that coming? But the mosfets is something else entirely, in my opinion at least. There were several other suspect products in the early days, like the octane that was a better radio than it was an octave pedal, not to mention the early probes.

I sort of agree with Dan, if you're shipping something you know is gonna fail.. I remember back in the day when people were subbing in 2N7000 mosfets as they have internal short protection. I'm not sure there's that much difference in toan but then I Don't work on multi platinum selling albums.

The current switching scheme works fine on my opinion. Not keen on the push pulls as they stick up quite a long way, I'd probably go for push push, but otherwise I think the switching scheme is fine. I guess you could maybe add a phase switch but then it's getting a bit ott. Is the other stray one of your parts builds?

Weren't they laid up due to illness or something? Really enjoy their album, hoping for some more next year. Edit: that's interesting re: razorblades. I know that technique is used for legit relicing by Gibson and fender, but I think they're slightly more authentic. Typically i'd expect to see the checking go with the grain, rather than across..

Ha, you suckered me there. Very glad, as you've done more or less what I would have done too. In truth I can see why you'd do it if you were concerned about matching the output between the three pickup positions, but it's not something i'd be inclined to do. I am actually going to get some SD pickups for the Noodles Gaffa Tape replica I've been planning for years (but never actually started, as with almost everything I 'plan' to do).

Interesting choice, I think i'd have gone for an over-wound conventional single so it can Sultans Of Swing with the coil taps. I would have loved that HSH config for my gigging guitar, shame I don't have the disposable income or i'd own that guitar now.

Not really, if I had to guess I'd say the Miracle Man seem to fit the description. The bridge at least was hotter and fuller in the mids than the nailbombs I've played and it was really, really loud compared to the MA and Strats I'd been playing.

Is there a wiki for James's new guitar? I should write it. I really like that guitar. Hugh told me he'd just re-wired it with BKP's but couldn't remember what BKP's they were. They were pretty beefy though, way louder than the MBK1's in the red MA demo guitar and the Shawbucker in the deluxe strat. Sounds like it will be pretty different looking next time we see it.

Nope completely different, the only thing that's the same is the silhouette. Yours has a darker more tobacco burst, rather than the reddish on this, different bridge with stringsavers and possibly abalone dots? The neck is a two piece birdseye maple with birdseye maple board (no skunk Stripe).

Not strictly true. The majority of commercial graphic eq pedals use a series of bandpass filters, with fixed centre frequencies and resonance. They are terrible in terms of phase shift where the frequency bands overlap. With a guitar it's not that notocable but for high end audio it's unacceptable. That's why they're uncommon in modern studios, usually reserved for specialist applications like kick drum eq.

I would like to, but I can't get that and an MB, and i'd be kicking myself if I missed out again. I've been on the list for a long time. Besides, If i'm spending upwards of 2k, I want something hand made with highly figured wood. Speaking of, when do you get your Strat-shape Manson?

That's interesting. How does it compare to the proto MB2se? I didn't really like that neck for some reason. Also i'm definitely not getting one. I was close to contacting Mansons about #14, but i'm going to hold off in the hopes of an MB1s or stealth bomber in the new year.

At 26, you shouldn't be getting hearing loss! You need to take steps to protect your hearing as once it's gone, its gone. I wouldn't be stood in front of anything measuring 111dB off axis without hearing protection. In fact I'm reaching for the ear plugs at 75.
