  1. Sounds like a plan! Got a link?? I also really want a mustang like Adrian Belew's '81 GK equipped guitar. I love small guitars!
  2. Goddamn that is a nice JM! I'm just thankful that they're too big for me. One day i'm going to build an 85% smaller, 25" scale JM. one day...

Agreed. A Tele should be butterscotch. Anything else is wrong. Just ask the Boss.
  4. Damn, that was quick. I would have snapped that thing up as a spare. Still no sign of the fabled VG8 muscle museum demos then??
  5. Im not sure I understand you. I said the second video was NOT the VG8, and that it sounds more like the record than the earlier video.
  6. Thus illustrating the point that the VG8 harmonizer, in this application, does not sound as good as the whammy, and doesn't sound like the record. I believe the studio recording was the whammy not the VG8. Please try to keep up if you're going to be sarcastic. EDIT: Also, I was THERE in 1999, at the shows. How old were you then?
  7. Just watched that vid and some other contemporary vids and reached one conclusion. Whatever he is using, it sounds shit. For example: I'm fairly sure that this is the VG8. Compare that to his rig here, it sounds a lot fatter and much better.
  8. Â It is pretty different. I had MM on repeat yesterday due to all this talk re: Whammy vs VG8 and honestly, I don't think it sounds like a VG8 at all. If you listen really closely you can hear the dodgy pitchshift artefacts on the studio recording. You don't get them with the VG8 due to the polyphonic pitch shifting, it's much cleaner. Â Now i'm willing to accept that it may be the VG8, but my personal stance is that it is the Whammy + Clean signal.
  9. I am always interested to hear what other people do with their gear! I didn't mean to offend you with my appraisal of the price, it's only my opinion based on watching the value of such things over a few years. You would actually sell it faster and for more if you put it in separate auctions. You'll get £150 all day long for the vg8 even in damaged condition. Cracks to the screen and raised. Case ring alarm bells. £50 for the GK and probably £120 for the guitar. Put the stock pickups back in, you won't get extra for the pickups because nobody knows anything about them. The custom hardware is interesting can we see more pics??
  10. Ha, not so much. £300 tops, though I wouldn't mind the hardware. VG8 wasnt used on muscle museum afaik, just the whammy and amp distortion. Was used on dark shines for the solo, but I'm not sure I'd pay £500 for it when I got my vg8 for nowt.
  11. Yeah, I understand how it works. I've been building pedals for over 10 years, I know the money is not the intrinsic value but the time spent designing and putting it together. Given the small volume production, it's probably a 'reasonable' price. I just think it's a little cheeky given that it was John Hollis who put in the time to design it. That said, I still think it sounds vile and literally cannot think of a use for it.
  12. $380!!!! That's insane, there are about $5 of parts in that thing. I could build one in about ten minutes. Which is probably longer than I'd ever use it for.
  13. That picture makes me want to rage-quit this thread right now. Want. One question though, do they actually play like £3500 guitars? Given that they're manufactured overseas and 'assembled' at Mansons??
