  1. Maybe they did plan on JFK + Defector but ditched the idea cos they weren't feeling it or something

I see no other reason to make the encore so basic and shove Uprising in the beginning of the set

Or maybe they realized that two encore songs with gimmicky intros is a bit much if they don't put a third song in between.

  2. Just listened to absolution front to back for the first time in a long time. Drones has nothing on that album. Something happened after Black Holes & Revelations. Something has been missing since then.

    Yup. Mojo's still gone.

That said, recent concerts have looked a lot better than the last two tours, so there's some positivity connected to the release of Drones, in addition to it being the best of the last three albums.

  3. Just watched the whole Werchter gig and I think it was of Absolution era greatness. The sound quality helped a lot of course, but the energy, set list and smiles exchanged between band members made even my least favorite songs enjoyable. I haven't seen them live since the BHaR tour, but I'll definitely go see them this time around..

  4. Probably but I prefer the "Journey songs". Suppose they could always do a 20 minute song just to make everybody happy but at that point like you said they might as well split the different parts into different songs. But I like the The Globalist as it is, one giant journey of a song.

A journey with quite a few dead ends.

  5. Yeah, it's been mentioned a fair bit. It's "You can run but you're never gonna hide".

I like to think it's 'You can run but you know you're gonna die.'

    But I guess it's not.

Is the line in the album lyrics?

  6. I see no-one's mentioned the most hilarious moment of this gig, namely when Matt shouted 'Fuck Leicestershire Police!'.

    Anti-establishment status confirmed .

Yeah, Body Count at Pinkpop was a little more convincing with their Fuck the Police chants.

Although, having the Dutch insult their poor coppers as if they're in any way comparable to the racist American ones is kind of odd.

  7. Don't know if Matt's actually said anything about it but there does seem to be a fair amount of double-meaning on the album, including on Reapers. For me, lines like 'Home is becoming a killing field' and 'There's a crosshair locked on my heart' imply a troubled/failing relationship.

That's what I get out of it, at least.

And "You've got the CIA babe" can obviously be interpreted as "You've got the

  8. I'm just wondering what people's beef with the blue blood / green mind / yellow belly is? Being of a noble birth, envious/jealous and a coward is what it reflects. :erm:

I enjoy it. I don't even think it's bad. And I'm usually the first to criticize their lyrics.

  9. Riff - Hyper Music

    Bass - Hysteria

    Guitar solo - Citizen Erased

    Drums - Assassin

    Piano - Space Dementia

    Vocals - Spiral Static

    Backing Vocals - Spiral Static

    Chorus - Sunburn

    Verses - New Born

    Intro - Muscle Museum

    Outro - Micro Cuts

    Lyrics - Megalomania

Edit: let me add to that:

    Atmosphere - Spiral Static

  10. I'm not too excited about the vid, the narrative, visuals and song mean very little to me and everyone in it looks like a model trying to act. A big pile of LA fakeness.
