Why is the harmonica so hated?
Because it's a gimmick now. It's been around for far too long.
-
All the confetti blew to the stage.
-
Mercy is so not a good encore song.
It's not a good anything song.
-
And Stockholm being dropped really does bum me out.
Because it's wrooooong.
-
I'm indifferent towards Spiral Static.
-
It's still classical music though (in a sense)
If the Globalist is then Drones definitely is. I mean. It's the most literal copy of a classical composition Muse have done since Collateral Damage.
-
The globalist
(......) Muse's classical music is always welcome!
Drones
I don't think I mind this kind of music since I sometimes enjoy it during watching movies but nope this song is just ugh
I see.
-
That was a great read indeed! Good behind the scenes info even if you're not a gear nut.
-
Just listened to absolution front to back for the first time in a long time. Drones has nothing on that album. Something happened after Black Holes & Revelations. Something has been missing since then.
Yup. Mojo's still gone.
That said, recent concerts have looked a lot better than the last two tours, so there's some positivity connected to the release of Drones, in addition to it being the best of the last three albums.

Could use Bliss instead of PiB
Could use Bliss as a third encore song. Especially if they finished early.
-
Just watched the whole Werchter gig and I think it was of Absolution era greatness. The sound quality helped a lot of course, but the energy, set list and smiles exchanged between band members made even my least favorite songs enjoyable. I haven't seen them live since the BHaR tour, but I'll definitely go see them this time around..
-
Probably but I prefer the "Journey songs". Suppose they could always do a 20 minute song just to make everybody happy but at that point like you said they might as well split the different parts into different songs. But I like the The Globalist as it is, one giant journey of a song.
A journey with quite a few dead ends.

Muse lyrics were always an afterthought, never the driving creative force behind songs.
You can't have both a concept album and lyrics as an afterthought.
-
Yeah, it's been mentioned a fair bit. It's "You can run but you're never gonna hide".
I like to think it's 'You can run but you know you're gonna die.'
But I guess it's not.
Is the line in the album lyrics?
-
Wtf was he doing during the Handler solo
.
He probably figured it needed some variation after all.
-
I see no-one's mentioned the most hilarious moment of this gig, namely when Matt shouted 'Fuck Leicestershire Police!' .
Anti-establishment status confirmed .
Yeah, Body Count at Pinkpop was a little more convincing with their Fuck the Police chants.
Although, having the Dutch insult their poor coppers as if they're in any way comparable to the racist American ones is kind of odd.

So far so good.
Every festival they're at should have a "heavy" reputation.
-
Heavy-ass jam into Madness.
Fucking Muse
-
Don't know if Matt's actually said anything about it but there does seem to be a fair amount of double-meaning on the album, including on Reapers. For me, lines like 'Home is becoming a killing field' and 'There's a crosshair locked on my heart' imply a troubled/failing relationship.
That's what I get out of it, at least.
And "You've got the CIA babe" can obviously be interpreted as "You've got the

,Babe."

I'm just wondering what people's beef with the blue blood / green mind / yellow belly is? Being of a noble birth, envious/jealous and a coward is what it reflects.
I enjoy it. I don't even think it's bad. And I'm usually the first to criticize their lyrics.

Can we change the thread title now that this thing has been released?
Anyone asking for a link now is an idiot.

I'm not too excited about the vid, the narrative, visuals and song mean very little to me and everyone in it looks like a model trying to act. A big pile of LA fakeness.

''medichlorians always seem to run the show''
No. Manic goats, dammit.

Or maybe they realized that two encore songs with gimmicky intros is a bit much if they don't put a third song in between.
