Jez451 Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 Title speaks for itself! What an absolute tune. Has any brave guitarist clocked the guitar or even the synth strings?
action_faust Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 he plays it with a capo ( on the 3rd fret) doesn't he? just like: e:-------------1-----1---------------------| B:---1----1----1-----3---------------------| G:---2----0----2-----2---------------------| D:---2----2----3-----0---------------------| A:--------3----3---------------------------| C:-----------------------------------------| sounds right to me
Doog Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 he plays it with a capo ( on the 3rd fret) doesn't he? just like: e:-------------1-----1---------------------| B:---1----1----1-----3---------------------| G:---2----0----2-----2---------------------| D:---2----2----3-----0---------------------| A:--------3----3---------------------------| C:-----------------------------------------| sounds right to me well those are the chords he plays, just without a capo (so the first chord is x35543 and work from there) I'm still not convinced it's in drop c, but the fact he plays an open string during the break after the first verse it's entirely possible... just doesn't seem that sensible tbh
musecasters Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 i got a vid from the bush gig, i'll upload it later and send on the link
musecasters Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=900405408&n=2 not great but it might help :-)
AstroPenguin Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 what kind of effect does matt use on that song? yeah, is it just a loop that plays, or is he actually playing? cuz the first performance of that song they played was all a track except for the vocals, so they were just pretending to play the isntruments http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVoyAn4XH1U
OD-Musik Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 It seems he is playing standard barre chords in standard tunning, with a backing track playing in a drop c tunning to me.
Rokit Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 on the italian video it seems that doms drums have silencer type thingys on the tops of them(dont play drums so dont know what they are)
AstroPenguin Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 on the italian video it seems that doms drums have silencer type thingys on the tops of them(dont play drums so dont know what they are) yeah that is why i think all the instruments are a track, cuz those things mute the drums. only the vocals are live
matthijs Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EEZTui5hVg&mode=related&search= perhapse this vid will sort it out (not playbacked)
Doog Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 jeez... ok just do a search for the shepherds bush performance, or the channel 4 performance, or the stockholm performance... are you saying they're "faking" it every time they play it?
Rokit Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 im saying the ones that are on tv are fake not shepards bush that not fake because its not exactly the track
kp... Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdpiiSbbkOI its quite clearly not fake, uv got morgan mucking about with the synths in the background and mattg playing the whole mighty 4 chords on the chords on the guitar, and it is nowhere near the same as the recorded version!

kp... Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 a friend who makes custom scratchplates, basically he's really good at finishing off edges n stuff and i said would like a metal front for ma guitar and i said i didnt want it any of the finishes mr matt bellamy has on his guitars, the material is actually out of an old series one land rover, so it has some age to it as well oh and also a custom effects company (obbFX) did the wiring etc...
muse12 Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 i am really a guitar noob and don't understand chords (only tabs) but what is are the notes (tab-numbers/strings) when the guitar tuned down to drop c?
jpatrick Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 e:-0----x----x----x--| B:-1----3----x----x--| G:-0----3----x----x--| D:-1----3----6----3--| A:-3----1----6----3--| C:-0----x----8----5--| Cm Bb G# Fm Rest of the tab is here.
~NoblameNoshame~ Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 it's not in drop c It is....matts playing the low notes on the low "E" tunned to C For example - The intro C-0---3---8---5- chords are something like e--------- b-4-4-4-6- g-5-3-5-5- d-5-5-6-3- a-3-6-6-3- c---------- Im not sure if he's playing High E notes...just add em if you want:)
prol Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 The effect he uses is some kinda of delay preset effect, I achieved something like it before with a mates effects unit in my college studio, just can't find the sodding name of the thing.

O RLY? no it's actually not delay at all. It's a sequenced pitch shifter effect made by using the nord Modular G2 rack. done.
