When Dunlop bought out MXR and re-issued the pedals, they used 3x dual-opamps for the block version. Their version of the 'Script' logo is basically the same pedal, without the R28 feedback resistor. There are some minor differences between the schems, however the use of dual op-amps as opposed to the single op-amps of the original does mean that the original sounds different (not necessarily better).
Guessing the EVH pedal just takes that resistor in and out of the circuit then?
What's the difference between the script logo phase 90 with the led and the one with no led? Apart from about £30. I've got the script led one cause it sounded less wooshy in demo videos.

They used dance of the knights as intro music before drones. Hopefully this means the sets later this tour will be more like the ones from 2007...

Are you left handed? That's fascinating, I don't think I've met a left handed person before
Nah but really, I get what you mean, especially since it was quite a while before they even released left handed MA guitars. As for the Cort pickup, it does sound a bit different (I think it's a bit louder mainly) but considering what it is, it's really good. After all, MattB didn't switch the stock pickups out of his...but then they might have been originally been built for a specific purpose!
Wonder why none of MB's mbcs have been used for that purpose yet...
-
Yeah, the standard pickup is pretty good. You could always swap it for an MBK-2 later anyway.
Getting left handed guitars seems like a bit of a pain in the arse, makes me glad I play the wrong way round
-
So I might not need to ask every time it goes down: Where do you guys find periscope streams? twitter?
Yeah. Search for muse & wherever the gig is, a few should appear in the live tab.
-
How did you do that? I tried like 5 different things but had no joy
-
His wife has.
And yeah, apparently it's not too difficult to replace cables if they go bad. I recall someone on here (he was in the U.S. though) would just walk into guitar center and swap them when he needed to replace them.
Nice. I'll need to ask about that next time I go to guitarguitar.
-
I think they still have some 10' ones left. The lava cables seem really similar. Expensive though.
Not sure, but what happened was Olly (I think this happened to Dom as well?) tweeted and posted here that their planet waves cable broke. Not a complaint tweeted AT planet waves, but just a standard "someone recommend me a new cable, my planet waves one is dead" sort of thing.
Planet waves 'reached out' after stalking him on the board and twitter, and offered to make it right. It was all a bit awkward.
Good customer service I guess? I think there are a few cables that have lifetime warranties anyway.
Sounds kind of weird haha. But yeah pretty good customer service. I think these ones might have the lifetime guarantee thing, need to check that.
I have the fender custom ones out whatever they are called and they seem to last a loooonnnggg timeThe California ones? I used to have one but lost it somehow
I fear for your country James. You should just give up on them, come and live here, in Devon. We have Nandos.Edit: Or Yorkshire. Men of the north etc..
Or a bit further north for nandos and irn bru
but you can get it pretty much anywhere in the UK
That's a good point, I wonder if Trump has ever f***ked a pig? -
Have you posted about your experience on twitter?
I have the Mansons cables which aren't made anymore, but before that I was using pro cos.
Do they get a lot of people tweeting about cables or something?
Damn, should have bought Mansons ones while they still made them.
-
What kind of cables do k&t people use and recommend? I've been using planet waves ones for ages but they break way too quickly.
-
Got to be a strat, I always think jags look like a melted chocolate that someone tried to save by sticking it in the fridge only to end up with a slightly deformed final shape...
If that makes sense
Best description of a guitar ever
But yeah, strat.
-
So disappointed to hear MWAH when I start the stream.
It needs to go. So much.
But TaB
-
what's that o.o
The original matt black.
Is http://https://www.instagram.com/p/0TDj3SHXSZ/ definitely the same guitar? Musewiki says it is but the gear stuff isn't really accurate anymore
EDIT: I think I might have asked that question before
-
In place of what, The Globalist? Can't imagine them suddenly adding another encore but, god damn, that'd be a terrible rotation as much as I'd like to see it
Hadn't really thought of what those 3 would replace. Would make a good rotation for Drones > Mercy > Knights as the second encore if they're playing multiple nights somewhere (well, not good if you were only at the first night's gig
)
A Blackout > Stockholm > TaB encore would be fucking amazing.Yeah, that order sounds better.
-
Now I'm imagining Blackout - Take A Bow - Stockholm Syndrome as the encore. Ready to be disappointed though.
-
this was probably discussed before but is matt's new aluminum strat with chrome pickguard a custom build by Manson's or another builder or was it a gift of some sort from someone during the recording of drones?. It's not a real fender that's for sure, the headstock size is bigger than the 70's style headstocks, but it could just be my eyes deceiving me. The guitar itself looks really cool and I think matt looks cooler when he's playing the ali strat, with the new jumpsuits of course. I dont think it'd look so good when he's back to TR matt with the all saints t shirts and colorful pants though
Pretty sure it's a fender custom shop one he's been using on tour. The one in the making of video definitely is a fender, you can see the logos on both sides of the headstock. Not 100% sure if it's the same guitar in the video and on tour though.

Matts slidey shuffle dance has been replaced by a machine
/drones

Don't touch it then. MB always leaves his controls all the way up, so you should too.
Might be worth checking the ground connections on the back of the pot and the ground terminal as well.
Even if I accidentally bump the volume knob it'll cut out and need wiggled a bit to get any sound again. Took the knobs off and the shaft moves up and down a bit, so I think the pot is a wee bit fucked (so many jokes could be made from that sentence
). The connections on the back look fine though.
Now that I'm looking back at the vid I need to figure this guitar strap thing out.Why did it keep flipping
made my wrist all fucked up
I would love feedback and advice about my techniques though - nobody has ever seen me play before so I never know what I'm doing wrong.
Try to get into the habit of using your little finger on your left hand, it makes playing some stuff a lot easier.
-
Spoke too soon, now the pot randomly cuts out if I touch it
-
And if we're to go by the making of globalist/defector, the strat was used for the entirety of Defector
Didn't he use one of the matt blacks for overdubs or something for defector? I've not seen the video for ages so can't remember.
Finally got round to sorting the pots on my mbc, now I can use the volume control properly.
-
Dammit I really want to go to nando's now. #archbishopofbanterbury
-
Is that an Echoplex or something similar he's waving about at 4:34 in the making of video?
-
Yes they are brilliant, much better feel and they are silent
Might replace the pots in mine eventually then. Wouldn't trust myself drilling into a guitar though
I guess if the contact cleaner doesn't sort it. Mine is still good, but I am slightly concerned about the toggle switch...seems a bit flimsyGot a can of servisol stuff and it worked wonders on my epiphone, so hopefully it'll sort this. The switch on my mbc isn't incredibly sturdy either. Still, it's damn good guitar for £500.
