  1. We just need someone to announce they're done with Muse and leaving.
  2. While not entirely that whole switch from Kid A was a bit rebellious in itself in regards to what was the popular music of the time, and they've had that experimental influence in varying degrees since. However... Daydreaming from their latest album has 41 million YouTube views they regularly sell out large venues around the world and they have won three Grammys.
  3. I've seen the theme for My Neighbor Totoro live and it was one of the greatest shows do not think of talking down to it.
  4. The huge drum sound over the big unison chants in the chorus. That doesn't warrant even a little comparison? I know that's more of a modern radio-hit feature than just one band now but still.
  5. Nice I guess. I don't have a big desire to keep listening to it.
  6. I've seen it before, it's not that big of a deal. The idea being it's a "tour" video so it'll take from different shows to give a wider perspective of the tour. And given the distant nature of the concerts they blend together well.
  7. I don't think I've ever heard that kind of soft innocent-y voice outside of Map of Your Head. I want more of it. Those "ah's" are gonna be Imagine Dragons styled aren't they?
  8. MWAH was so loud. It was jarring when Knights came in and was so quiet. I didn't have the hearing-damage-inducing volumes though a lot of people reported. Fortunately I had earplugs anyways since I had to take the subway which does have hearing-damage-inducing volumes.
  9. I'm also going to play a game where I take a shot every time there's an edit that does this effect.
  10. More thoughts but I actually had fun with it. The theater's surround sound mixed nicely with the audio and it had a real live feel more than any other live album I've heard although I've never seen another in the theater. The set was more energetic than the last one but it is still disappointing only the Drones tracks were new especially when all the other songs have had better performances in their other live albums. And having no main piano section is a sad reflection on the actual live show trends. The editing effects did get overbearing but it wasn't as bad as I thought. I do give credit to the editors trying to maintain continuity while the band is spinning around . The fast editing and blending effects at least gave something. In Rome you could just point the camera at the stage and get a beautiful shot but here the prevailing color is just... black. There's not a lot you can do in regards to wide shots. The lack of color still makes everything seem very cold and distant. Matt was never an interactive lead but there was always this connection through the performance and that gets lost in the mechanical and dull aesthetic of their setup. The film couldn't save that. It didn't help there was nothing special about these shows either. Vuilstaamen pro shot was really nice too. I ddin't even know they did that. Would've fucked me up since usually not playing Black in Black after Hysteria means they're gonna play the full song later.
  11. Yeah there's some wonderful shots like the running scene and the opening explosion where the crowd starts pressing in (that might be one of my favorite shots in any live recording). There's also a lot of incredibly boring framing just pointing at a band member in the most basic of shots. And a few cases of edits that follow the beat which never doesn't look cheesy. It does it for one of the drum fills in Survival and it's really grating. More than anything I saw in Drones so far at least.
  12. It looks gorgeous because the concert looks gorgeous, not for the impressive directing.
  13. If someone would actually dismiss or shame me for saying Muse is my favorite band I don't think I'd like to converse much with them anyways. If someone tells me they love an artist I don't I either just let that pass or hear them out, since their justification might give me a new perspective. I don't know who I'd consider my favorite band now anyways. Muse doesn't connect with me a lot anymore but they have so much in the past I can't ignore that, so they'll eventually come up in music talk.
  14. The editing is overbearing but I'd rather have that than the filming for Rome. There's a very distant washed out look to the whole thing though. Kind of mechanical and cold. It actually fits the environment really well though so whether it was the band or editor's decision that was clearly the vibe everyone gets from the tour which is unfortunate.
  15. It's kinda the point as the release date feels so meaningless when we heard most of the album. And I wouldn't say "no good stuff" based on responses. Supremacy, Panic Station, and Animals had good responses. And the Cologne performances of Save Me and Follow Me were well received.
  16. Well we'll see by the next single. Two songs in isn't a lot.
  17. I kinda give a shit as far as it gives away the big parts early. The same way for how the past two Muse albums we basically heard all the good stuff before the albums were out, leaving only the leftovers.
