Jetro
I did a search for "scrolling" and found nothing. So here goes: Because of the background picture (I think, or maybe it's all those transparacy effects) the board "lags" (slow and unresponsive) when I scroll. If I disable all images, it scrolls smoothly. Does this annoyance occur to anybody else? Maybe the forum is too "heavy" or something like that. In my opinion, the default theme should be Stars, because it does not lag when scrolling, and is easy on the eyes.
kev
what browser are you using? the role of the default theme is the match with the default theme of the main muse site. in developing it the aim was to have cross browser performance at least on a par with that, i do recall there being some lag issues in a browser (i'm expecting it to be ie6 / ie7 with their ropey transparency support) but that being roughly the same as the main site. if you're having problems i recommend you just switch to another theme

I think everybody experiences this, though, without paying too much attention to it. It occurs a bit different in Firefox, though, because unlike Opera, smooth scrolling is not enabled. I've switched themes, but it's a bit uninviting for new members coming to the site.

Zaphod Chizzlebrox
It used to be a pain for me when I used IE, or even Firefox on Windows...seems to be fine with Firefox on Ubuntu though!

There's an option within Firefox's preferences for enabling smooth scrolling, just turn that on and it'll work fine. Also, you can set your own default skin within the User Control Panel to whichever skin you want as your own all the time.

No, I said it would be different, my point here is that it is laggy and slow when scrolling. I was originally talking about in Opera, where smooth scrolling is enabled, but it is also apparent in Firefox, although a bit differently. Also, you can set your own default skin within the User Control Panel to whichever skin you want as your own all the time. Yes, and I have already done that. So, I seem to be the only one who experiences this, regardless of OS and browser? (I've tried Ubuntu as well). Guess there is no problem, then. Edit: On a side note, is there a way to disable signatures? The ones like the one above makes me cringe.

This Muse forum shall remain friendly So let's put this thread to a close, yes ? By the way, Lauren...your signature RULES. David Tennant RULES. Doctor Who: RULES. <3 ____________________________ Returning to the issue at hand, what are your system specs ? Some computers can struggle with certain forum scripts (such as vBulletin or IP. Board) as well as image-heavy websites. Have a look through your settings in the User Control Panel and change try changing the theme to one a little more basic than the default. I have the HAARP theme The forum however looks great as it is and unfortunately the administrators/web masters/web designers cannot change the theme or make the forum less attractive (or even less user-friendly) just for one person. Jetro
Is this sufficient? Intel CPU T2300 @ 1.66 GHz 2,00 GB of RAM NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS Have a look through your settings in the User Control Panel and change try changing the theme to one a little more basic than the default. I have the HAARP theme The forum however looks great as it is and unfortunately the administrators/web masters/web designers cannot change the theme or make the forum less attractive (or even less user-friendly) just for one person. Like I said, I've already changed the theme. And also, like I mentioned, this only seem to be affecting me, and I don't want the administrators to change it just for one person. I just didn't think I was the only one having this problem. I'm surprised by this accept for these big, bloaty signatures. They make the forum hard to read (it's like big commercial banners) and make it seem less serious. There should at least be an option to turn them off. By the way, Lauren...your signature RULES. David Tennant RULES. Doctor Who: RULES. <3 *sigh* It's got nothing to do with what's in it. It's that the signature is bigger than the post. Nobody likes a signature that is bigger than the message above it. But as for the topic in question, I'm satisfied. If nobody else have problems, it's good. mikkyh
Is this sufficient? Intel CPU T2300 @ 1.66 GHz 2,00 GB of RAM NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS Hmm, your CPU has a low frequency but it's a dual core. All the other specs seem sufficient for this forum. Like I said, I've already changed the theme. And also, like I mentioned, this only seem to be affecting me, and I don't want the administrators to change it just for one person. I just didn't think I was the only one having this problem. Sorry, I just skim read through the rest of the thread (ooh I made a rhyme!). I'm surprised by this accept for these big, bloaty signatures. They make the forum hard to read (it's like big commercial banners) and make it seem less serious. There should at least be an option to turn them off. Well...I don't really see that the signatures are majorly big. They're autocropped to an acceptable size in my personal opinion. A 100 x 500 banner is hardly huge. *sigh* It's got nothing to do with what's in it. It's that the signature is bigger than the post. Nobody likes a signature that is bigger than the message above it. This was just an off-topic comment I made regarding David Tennant. Even though it's regarding signatures...I just said what I said because I saw the David Tennant sig and saw that it was good. But as for the topic in question, I'm satisfied. If nobody else have problems, it's good.
kev
http://board.muse.mu/profile.php?do=editoptions can turn signatures off here in testing lag/scrolling issues were very much isolated, i certainly experience none on the computers/browsers i use regularly. The requirement for the default skin here is to match the presentation of http://muse.mu so it requires the similar image approach. does that website lag on scrolling for you as well? Jetro
http://board.muse.mu/profile.php?do=editoptions can turn signatures off here I can't believe I missed that. Thanks. in testing lag/scrolling issues were very much isolated, i certainly experience none on the computers/browsers i use regularly. The requirement for the default skin here is to match the presentation of http://muse.mu so it requires the similar image approach. does that website lag on scrolling for you as well? Yes, on that site too. It is not as much "lag" as it is unresponsive, meaning that it's just slow when scrolling, it doesn't exactly lag. Turning off images, ie. the background image, resolves this. Hmm, your CPU has a low frequency but it's a dual core. All the other specs seem sufficient for this forum. Yes I know. I have never run into any similar problems on other sites (disregarding ad- and Flash-overflown porn tube sites). I can only imagine visiting the Muse site or forums with a non-top-notch computer from before 2008.
