muse samuse
Glastonbury Festival (23-27 June 2010 in Somerset, UK) Promoter: Live Nation Estimated 2010 festival turnover of £30 million based on average ticket price of £185 and 140-150k tickets sold compared with turnover of £15 million in 2005 and turnover of £24 million in 2008 which was just above break-even. 2010 headliner fees for Stevie Wonder and Muse and Gorillaz are estimated to be no more than £300000 per media reports. The rest of the proceeds are to cover other band fees and costs incurred by Michael Eavis including the use of his farm and donations to charities. Bands like Bruce Springsteen a year ago typically accept lower fees to perform at Glastonbury than at other festivals because of the publicity and coverage provided by the BBC. ryancoke93
I thought the U2 tour was actually losing money... at least it was according to all the earlier reports. They couldn't even break even. U2's tour expense was like 1million a day ( 500k per stage - and they had 2 stages) And they did break even, but not until halfway through the US leg of the 360 tour (After they had toured all of Europe) U2 also sell out ALLLLLL of their tickets because their stage is 360 degrees, meaning theres seats being sold behind the stage. Muse are doing pretty damn good considering U2 are probably the benchmark for Stadium tours these days (And this is U2's 3rd stadium tour)
nohopeinfear
I checked out the Forbes 100 list earlier and U2 are 7th. Muse aren't even in the list... It's quite an embarrassing list tbh. Kate Hudson's 97th

Deacon Blues
i bet this U2 tour did lose $ but that depends on how you look at it. Live nation gave U2 like 100 million bucks in exchange for basically owning their next few tours so maybe it did "lose" money for them but in the long run after the next couple tours it will be very profitable for live nation LN wouldn't have made that deal if there was no way to take U2 on the road profitably Muse tours i think probably are very profitable. Even with their big production they can still make good profit. their tower stage thing cost 2,000,000 bucks USD to build and probably about 50-100 grand to setup for each show due to transportation and union labor fees and insurance, etc so if the average muse gig grosses 600,000 USD....each member of muse probably nets about 100 grand per US gig the real money makers are the european stadium gigs like wembley. the boys probably pull down 1,000,000 USD each by my calculations. even with the production costs - the sheer gross of the box office is like circa 10,000,000 USD. its actually quite possible that they're making maybe in the ball park of 2,000,000 USD each, unless my calcuations are just way off - which i don't think they are. i've taken classes about the live music and touring industry and have a pretty good idea of where the money goes and what things cost jeez what a feeling that must be. im so happy for them. they totally deserve it
