  1. Erm.....Holy F*** Had no expectation of that as an opener.
  2. Despite it saying more Cities to be announces, I never thought I would see London, Manchester & Bristol in the same list.
  3. I haven't hated any of the Simulation Theory singles so far, but nor I have loved them entirely. This though, I don't think I've loved a Muse track this quickly on one listen since I heard the Handler.
  4. This is the main problem with projectors, even the high-end ones that they were using (12 in total!) can chuck out so much light, this is why we were getting advised pre-gig to turn off the flash. The same visual were used for many songs on the current festival tour, they are so much easier to pick up on LED screens. The brightness/contrast doesn't compare. The visuals for Madness was far more enjoyable as backdrop on the festival setup, rather than on the wings. It didn't always make sense. The Handler certainly did.
  5. Lovely article and video from Moment Factory, those behind some of the visuals and more specifically the interactive elements of the video production. https://momentfactory.com/work/shows/concerts/drones-tour-muse English language button top right presuming it defaults to French.
  6. Two different systems entirely. The white balls on their costumes are the beacons for the black trax system, it allows normal rigged lighting fixtures to act as spot lights, eliminates the needs for actual follow spot operators being hoisted up. They were also used for the "Seeker" HFO drones tracking in the Arena shows as they were completely automated. The kinetics were used for several songs during the Arena tour, UD, Globalist, Handler, I'm probably missing something. It's just an input for live visual generation & tracking. On topic...The setlist seemed decent enough, I don't think the performance was bad, I just don't think they are the same band that people keep thinking of 10-15 years ago, they are in their 30's after all. In terms of the BBC stream, I've seen them enough times to know their live sound, the mixing was awful.
  7. There is already a "Stage Setup" thread that's quite in depth. I suggest amending these posts to that. http://board.muse.mu/showthread.php?t=100561&page=16 The tour uses 24 trucks, the PA alone uses 32 rigging points. It has to go up in a certain order, companies like Brilliant Stages & Tait have had decades in making tours quick to assemble and pack away. Everything in the air weighs around 32 tonnes, that's why Zurich needed it's own free standing rigging solution, the building did not have the roof load capacity. The assembly time is not as long as you may think.T2L area tour only took 2-2.5 hours to load up into the trucks again. iZAu7ZfxtIM
  8. They are helium filled, so in theory they are weight neutral and require only small fans to produce the force required for the different axis of movement. Power I would imagine is a Lithium Ion battery of some variety. The AI is more of a live decision making based on a pre determined flight path with realtime tracking from 40+ cameras around the arena. Probably best making any further chat in the "Drones Stage Set Up" thread, this is posted here purely as a Muse in the Media link.
  9. The alternative is go to a bar for 1/2 hour, then just walk straight onto the tube. I'd also advise not using any transport that goes north via Blackwall Tunnel along with everyone else..
  10. I thought security would be hot on it like a lot of venues for "safety reasons" Unfortunately the o2 seem to allow/encourage standing in seated areas, I also bought seated tickets in Block 103 on the 11th. Had people just standing there, one person was reached over too and jabbed in the neck gently while being shouted at as they were just watching through their damn phone. I realise people want to stand because they didn't get standing tickets, guess what not everyone does. I'm not 20 anymore, I can't stand 5-6 hours without needing a piss or getting stiff knees, I'll quite happily be comfy and take in the show. If you're going to stand and the people behind you are seated, it's a dick/selfish move, deal with the people in front of you instead. I can't say I had problems getting in on the 11th, mind I did use the o2 Priority bar, IKEA like bathroom and your own private stairs that came out at Block 102.
  11. Heard Matt mentioning this on a Radio 1 advert this morning, referred to it as it as their Spinal Tap moment. They've clearly been filled with Helium to the point that they weigh very little, the routes/flight paths are pre-programmed around each arena. Another system, involving 40+ static camera are tracking the drones for safety and band+drones for automated light tracking.
  12. Jealous if you do get Sunburn, mind I have had it live before elsewhere. Seems the o2 is having problems getting people in tonight, why I am seeing pictures of queues at the gates at 20:20? I always though the place was built to handle these numbers. Tbh, I was at the o2 priority bar last night, you get your own stairs that bring you out right by Block 102 entrance. Came out the gig after Knights, straight into the lift back down, down first into the bar (and toilets!)
  13. Having gone with a few friends tonight one described feeling apathetic towards the band, none of us thought the show was bad, it certainly had its highlights, we've seen them 4 times and the feeling is its a mistake to go to album tours. We did actually not bother with the 2nd Law Tour. The Handler is immense live, the production overall is fantastic, but I didn't feel it topped previous shows I've been too, I guess the setlist had a lot to do with that, weird middle section of the gig, happy to get SS, wish starlight would get dropped, I still think mercy is awfull. I'm probably getting old and grumpy here...I realise people are allowed to stand in *seated* in the o2, I get certain songs are going to want to put you on your feet, but not all the time, I i swear there were 3 people a couple of rows in front of me just recording and watching through their phones! I'm not going to stand up if the people behind me are sat, it's plain selfish.
  14. A lovely video from Brilliant Stages. LnfSL2ca3ag
  15. I'm quite curious to see how much of the floor space this stage takes in the o2, this will be my first time watching muse while seated, in block 103 of the o2 come the 11th. Agreed, as long as you're not being a dick and doing something as selfish as smoking weed next to others, like some were at the Ricoh gig. I've never been one for jumping around or singing along, I'm usually listening. This doesn't enhance my enjoyment of something. Having seen my first few gigs where the best thing you could record something on had the resolution of a potato (think I had a Sony Erricson T610) on BHAR tour lol, I still don't understand why people watch gigs through their screen. Live the moment, you don't need to prove your existence by recording and documenting something.
  16. This is something I'm perfectly ok with. It could be worse, it could be Dave Grohl telling you how the gig you are at is special, that they are going to play all night and push the curfew, Rock n Roll and all that. Then you go look at the setlist and realise they've been doing the same thing every night.
  17. That and all the usual official sources. Well in my case it was the e-mail newsletter that I had received 2 minutes prior. In the years I've been semi-actively lurking this forum I've never been one for rumour information. Also, yes please drop UD and Sup, then again no so fussed about CE these days, would be happy with Map & SS in there.
