The first Animals solo is probably Matt's most difficult.
-
Supremacy is a welcome addition, the riff is always pretty killer live and it usually gets a good reception from the crowd.
-
Reapers>Hysteria>Stockholm
-
Ever since the last tour I always think to myself that if Knights isn't the closer then it has to be Survival(which I wouldn't mind being brought back).
-
Maybe it's just a really short show...
Has to be an encore tho
-
Fury apparently! What a set so far.
-
Reapers for me, CE and Stockholm are just behind though.
-
I'll be honest, that steam made me have the same feelings for Muse that I had when I was a 16 year old.
-

Showbiz: The great variety and maturity for a band's debut album. The lyrics are also the most relatable in comparison to the other albums, though a bit naive here and there. Not to mention the monster track that is Showbiz.
OOS: The perfect album when it comes to finding the perfect amount of subtly throughout each track. I'll never forget my first listen through the album and picking up the incredible arpeggiated synths in the background. Incredibly cohesive for what could be considered an experimental album.
Absolution: the definitive Muse album where they finally find their own sound. The best riffs alongside some incredible piano work. Lyrlcally their strongest album and Matt really shows off his emotions in the vocals. Their best album imo.
BH&R: their first time bringing in electronic and pop influences into the forefront of their writing and it works extremely well. Dom's drumming is spectacular throught as well. The Spanish influences are a nice addition and the closing 3 tracks are the strongest ending to an album they've ever done in my opinion. They also didn't manage to lose their "Muse" trademark in this album either.
The Resistance: how incredibly grand the album sounds and how well they use their classical influences. Exo is one hell of an achievement for a band. Plus it's nice to listen to when I'm in a romantic mood.
T2L: it's extremely experimental and you can't argue that it's stagnant. All over the place in terms of genres and that keeps interesting. Panic Station is their most fun track ever and IS proves to me that they can do electronic music correctly. Matt's vocals are incredible and the tour the followed was the best tour vocally as well.
Drones: it takes their old sound and makes it sound fresh. It puts them back on track from where they got derailed on The Resistance. The bass is incredible as well, Chris really outdid himself on this album. The solos Matt does are fantastic as well, love the guitar work. The Reapers, Handler and Defector run is a spectacular listen as well.

GL trumps the lot of live momentum killers. 2013 Blackout was poor, but I guess at the time I was happy just to have Blackout. Save Me and USOE were also decent live. 2011 UD was the worst of that song - was quite fun on T2L tour wth the barrier shit. I do like Explorers, but yeah, it did sap momentum. Monty Jam was also a momentum killer.
No way! Monty Jam may not have been a balls out riff fest but it was awesome atmospherically with the news snippets. I loved it live, plus I got Sunburn right after it(might have helped).

"Faith,
It drives me away.
But it turns me on
Like a stranger's love
It rockets through the universe
It fuels the lies and feeds the curse
Believes we could be glorious."
Maybe it's just the spectacular way in the chorus is delivered but I love the lyrics. Makes it seem like the protagonist knows he's being naive in whatever he believes in but believes there could be a pay off that would be "glorious"

I enjoy seeing Animals live but it taking the place of SS should be a sin.
-
I shit you not, I had a friend in college who is now an escort and her "promotional video" featured Madness.
-
Revolt during sex? I guess the "you've got strength! You've got soul!" can be motivational.
-
Just combined the vocal track from the album of this song with the organ track a soundcloud user created. Hopefully nobody asks for it to be taken down but its quite awesome so I suggest anybody that likes this song to download it while its still up!
This sounds more biblical and has a lot of despair in it. Would have been perfect....dammit Matt.

I wish they kept the standard of lyrics on the album as a whole on the level of The Globalist. The first "movement's" lyrics are absolutely stunning in my opinion, like Satan compiling an offer to this hopeless protagonist.
-
Which is why it sounds more like Buckethead, who does the same thing constantly.
-
People think that just because Matt is tapping it's AC/DC or Eddie Van Halen. That second tapping solo is more akin to something Buckethead would do than anything.
-
The Globalist really could have fit inside The Resistance pretty well, probably would have improved it too.
-
Did I see a review on here saying Reapers reminded the listener of Robbie Williams with the chorus?
I hear Aerosmith, but not RW. Bit of an interesting comparison though - not far off the Q line that Unnatural Selection was a hard rock version of an Abba track.
That comparison was done because the "counter balance this commotion" line pretty much follows this: https://youtu.be/gIQ98ZOulSo?t=1m10s

Album is garnering a lot of praise from most critics it seems, many of the one's we've heard from so far anyway. Just waiting for Pitchfork to chime in now
I'm super surprised by the reviews. Maybe the album is better without the context of being a Muse fan.
-
The initial shock if it being a Muse song is just way to much for some people to handle, which is completely understandable. But if it popped up on my radio, I wouldn't change the station.
-
How much did he bench press?
He did a lot of cardio from what I remember, worked out with some blonde did when he did lift. I never saw him going heavy, average i'd say. So 135-155.
Your favourite Muse guitar solo.

See, I have no problem stretching and tapping single string like that. Arpeggios kill me for whatever reason though.
