I'm rather negatively surprised at how many said "fans" on FB are bashing it, mainly because it's not rock enough.
This fanbase, for goodness sake...
Ehh, those guys aren't ever happy, FB isn't a good gauge.
-
I'm pretty surprised. The "user review" sites are completely bashing the album (unsurprised because it's kinda fashionable to bash Muse on those without even listening) but the critical reviews are pretty damn high so far. I expected the opposite.

Flooooooooozy

And another thing, I love the circularity of the song, the way it returns to the intro for the outro. And the way it reflects The Void and vice versa. Nice. The transition to Dark Side is a bit janky but hey ho.
Really? I love that transition, it's like a wake-up call but still has that synthy feel to it.

So where are we on a consensus of Propanda? I love it but is it better than Dead Inside? I’m going with no.
Both pop but different. Propaganda is much catchier though.
-
I fucking love this song. I can't get it out of my head.

Still early days, but for me
Absolution
OOS
BHaR
ST ~ TR (I'm gonna need some time to decide which I like more)
Showbiz
Drones
T2L

My roommate AND my girlfriend both said it reminded them of SOAD. I don't hear it.
-
Listening to it again this morning detached from any initial hype and.....I still love it. I agree, this might be one of the lower rated albums for critics but I think the fan reaction to this will be overwhelmingly positive in comparison to the previous 2 albums.

Hi I remember you from Webster Hall from what seems like a million years ago now. We waited in line for like 6 hours together. Fun times.
Anyways, Break it To Me is already starting to grow on me, I really like the chorus and the solo! Still one of the weirdest Muse songs ever.
I was at that show too! Bloody hot that day.

Yeah I like how Matt sounds on the Void. It's ominous.
-
Yeah I wouldn't call it "Muse by numbers" but it's definitely a lot of their stereotypes over the years.
-
I think that's what annoys me most about the song. Tove Lo is a very capable artist, fucking give her a full feature if you already have her on board.
-
My biggest surprise of the album. I had extremely low expectations and it's one of Muse's most ambitious songs yet.
-
Man, it's sexy Muse. You can't hate sexy Muse.
-
This is sorta what they were aiming for with Defector but this time nailed it.
-
I think I'm in the minority that thinks the normal version is better than the AV. It's more subtle, it suits the album better, and I think it's more polished.
-
I kinda like the album version better in context. The alternate version is great, but it's a bit too motion picture soundtrack to me.
-
You keep telling pretty lies.

Propaganda and BITM are the worst things this band have ever done.
I actually felt a bit sick listening to them.
Propaganda is great tho.
-
I think I'm ready to put the songs into tiers.
Fabulous:
Algorithm
The Void
Blockades
Propaganda
The Dark Side
Good:
Break It to Me
Pressure
Thought Contagion
Mediocre:
Dig Down
Something Human
No:
Get Up and Fight.
-
I'm surprised how little the rest of the song overstay their welcome considering the singles prior.
-
Man The Void would be absolutely incredible if they remembered how to finish a song with bombast. That said, it sounds like a Kid A Radiohead track(sorry).
-
Man Get Up and Fight had so much potential and they shit all over it. High school flashbacks.

I actually see the hardcore fans being more positive on here and reddit. I wouldn't consider "WE NEED GUITAR" fans being hardcore.
