I can't believe we've come full circle with the Royal Blood influence.
-
lyrics are the best part. probably the best on the album.
Drill Sergeant is up there too.
-
-
I'm excited to read the Youtube comments of the lyric video once it's out.
-
It's grown on me immensely since i've first heard it. It'll probably be a classic at the end of the day.
-
G5.
I knew it was something around there.
-
Am I going crazy or does Matt hit a B5 near the end?
-
I'm actually liking more of the tracks straight away than in comparison to T2L. I'll probably be listening to more than double the songs down the line in Drones in comparison.
-
As does Reapers, hearing it live first, it felt like several different songs stitched together that didn't flow well, the studio recording is so much better.
Reapers is ace live. The main riff hits you like a ton of bricks.
-
I like it but it's definitely not something I would show off to my friends.
"Hey man, have you heard the new Muse record?! This track it great"
*My mother, my father, my brother, my puppy, killed by Droneeeeees*

This is the best song on the album for me.
Yep, I'm on the same boat. Reminds me a bit of Eternally Missed in terms of structure.
-
If this was a single I'd very much worry for Matt's safety.
-
So far I'd say it might be better than TR, Showbiz and T2L, but none of the others. It might fall even further down for me, but I doubt it'll get any higher.
I feel the exact same way.
Funny enough, I think the album would have gotten a much better reception around here if the majority of the first half wouldn't have been spoiled. Had I heard Reapers and the Handler on my first listen of the album I probably would have been more hyped to listen to the second half.

It's a fun "car ride" album. I never really see myself going through entire albums at home with my headphones on but I gained a massive appreciation for this album when I was communing to my work today, it's similar to The Resistance in that respect.
-
The last bit that no one seems to like reminds me of Sailing, which happens to be one of the few Rod Stewart songs I like.
-
He'd probably just write a song about how hard he would kick someone's ass if he could once he saw some random guy on the street who looked tough.
36 year old Matt would write a 6 part epic on how the random tough guy on the street struggled with mind control which is why he's so mean.
-
I've really started to warm up to the track now that I got the initial disappointment out of the way. Still can't get over the lack of use of the Instagram riff though.
-
It would have been okay if it ended up like Soaked did. I don't even think it needs to be on the album for the message either, Defector already kind of covers the fighting back base.
-
Fuck guys, I keep singing the pre-chorus to myself. Help.
-
"Trance Formation" is a call back to a book from Cathy o' Brian called "Trance Formation of America" where she reveals personal experiences from the MK Ultra program where citizens were put into a "trance" like state for the benefit of mind control.

We need better lyrics. Seriously, the album might be ok but the lyrics are fucking terrible
This is a fucking must, the lyrics on the last 2 album have been abysmal. I'm glad Matt got the concept album thing out of his system, but now we need a producer different to Mutt. I'd like someone to come in with a more modern perspective. Take the basis of tracks like Reapers and The Handler and see where they could take that. Aftermath was good in terms of experimentation, i'd love more atmospheric stuff such as that to make an appearance. I like The Globalist's approach as well, make more progressive tracks like that(just more of the heavy bit). There is a really good basis here on Drone to bounce off of, they just have to take it the right direction.
-
I'm starting to like The Globalist much more.
-
Reapers-The Handler-Defector is pretty fucking awesome. If there's a single moment that gives me absolute chills is once Matt sings "War is all around"(or whatever it is) in the beginning of Aftermath.
-
So, so disappointing that the heavy stuff is so short. As soon as that Instagram riff kicks in over the 7-string riff it is one of the most epic moments Muse have done, and they end it after what, 20 seconds?? What the fuck.
That was my biggest letdown, the instagram clip was used so sparingly when it had a ton of potential.

I'm wholly in love with this track, impossible not to headbang to.
