Album Eight: Simulation Theory
MartianSpaghettiRider replied to Claudia O's topic in Songs & Releases
Just imagine a TDS-MOTP-Bliss combo within a single gig. EDIT: Why not FAWY, too? Or Cave, or IBTY, Shrinking Universe, The Gallery... Pressure and PS back-to-back = ACE. They feature horns in both of them and are even in the same key.- 5,585 replies

But by not being a fan doesn't mean we hate them, or we're jealous of them. That's what InfiniteBlackSkies doesn't seem to get. EDIT: I was replying to Jobby, but forgot to quote. EDIT 2: Oh, and he's already specified what I said, so...- 5,585 replies

No, the true questions are... Is there really a fucking didjeridoo in Propaganda? If the answer is yes, who's playing it? Did they manage to play multiple takes in a row without fainting or did they take some pauses in between? The entire post or just the comment alone?- 5,585 replies

That's true, my bad. Speaking of which, it shocks me to see how Blockades is only 3:50. I expected it to be one of longest within the four-to-five minute range, lol. Maybe it felt longer to him because of the presence of twists and turns within its running time. Which excites me, but I know it certainly won't be like that. I'm an incredible sucker for the "acquatic" baroque-like synths and the increasing intensity and speed in the three-minute version.- 5,585 replies

Most of those tracks are from Drones, in fact. I was rather talking about ST ones.- 5,585 replies

I can agree about this if we're talking about songs like TC, and to a way smaller extent Pressure, but frankly not the rest. EDIT: Also, let's not fuss too much about track lengths. A song like Shine clocks at barely past three minutes, yet it's one of their best songs ever.- 5,585 replies

Track lengths out on Google Play. The first album in their whole carrier in which no track pushes past five minutes. https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Muse_Simulation_Theory_Deluxe?id=Bmymbnlqvl7roadohimrpzdpsta- 5,585 replies

They're in same key, it could work. Especially if Matt decides to go fully acoustic with it during gigs.

As the opener in a live setting, I agree it's a banger. When I saw them in Milan I just couldn't help but jumping and throwing pumping fists to the sky in the heat of the moment. Maybe it's also because it was the first time I went to a gig of theirs, but the moment when Matt started the riff after Drones I literally felt an adrenaline rush through my veins!- 5,585 replies

I wasn't saying there's something wrong with Psycho. But personally speaking, after more than three years and a half I can say that I find it a bit repetitive and not very special. I still really enjoy it as a full out rocking tune, but it doesn't feel fresh for their standards, unlike a good part of the ST songs we have so far.- 5,585 replies

Well, it could just be employed as the bridge melody, or as the intro riff.- 5,585 replies

Me neither, but I'd also be a little afraid after what they've done with the 0305030 riff in Psycho. But in the Q review they put it as a highlight of ST, so... this time they might have actually done something more original and creative with a past riff.- 5,585 replies

You know, I was thinking about what the German RS review said about Break It To Me having oriental sounding melodies or similar... Since it seems it's going to be quite rockish while being R'n'B-tinged ("RATM's clang", says the Q review), what if the oriental melody is the Vuilstamen Riff?- 5,585 replies

But... why would they be stupid? Even if the english translation isn't perfectly done, I think what they're saying is pretty comprehensible, like Jobby explained.- 5,585 replies

Drones got stunning reviews (Kerrang even gave it full score!), yes, but just a small bunch. To this day, it's the album of theirs with the lowest avarage score on Metacritic (63). And I feel this album may get a better critical reception than Drones, too. The two reviews we have so far are quite down-to-earth in tone, not overenthusiastic or totally bashing, and the fact they gave ST an overall positive verdict hypes me even further.- 5,585 replies

I respectfully disagree about that. While it's gonna be quite poppish, I have a feeling it will sound solid and tight when listened to front-to-back. Coupled with the fact the lyrics doesn't seem to have vapid and repetitive concepts shoe-horned in (I'm looking at ya, Drones) and so far the tracks have been quite honest and spontaneous (at least to me) in their sound direction, I think it's going to be very good in its own genre. I also think TC might be the weakest track of the whole lot, after all. Regarding SH, imho, tracks like Aftermath and Revolt are waaay more saccharine. And cheesier, too. Heck, I can't even remember the last time I listened to Aftermath- 5,585 replies

Just for curiosity, how much were the cheapest tickets for La Cigale and the latest SBE? Because I may try and give that hypothetical secret gig in Italy a go... (if there's one, that is)...

I'm sure it's the first one. That means that ST won't be riff-based at the same level of Drones, which is something we somewhat already knew.- 5,585 replies

Let's not jump to conclusions, though. From the journalist's tone, it seems he can't recall precisely if Algorithm is the only five-minute song, so there might be another one at least. Anyway... Dangerously hyped for that damn track, now. I hope it won't disappoint me.- 5,585 replies

Uh, I'm quite sure the writer is still referring to ST songs, and not drawing a comparison between Drones and ST ones. Otherwise he/she would have mentioned a Drones track, wouldn't he/she?- 5,585 replies
