  1. So true, they keep producing just about enough great material per album to keep me hooked. Although frankly my pessimism has grown to the point where I'm no longer thinking "so psyched for the new Muse album!!!" so much as "so psyched for the 2-3 great songs on the new Muse album!!!".
  2. I'm not sure a Radiohead-Muse comparison is a particularly useful one, because Muse seem to care far more about commercial performance and writing songs to fill stadiums than Radiohead do. Even if Muse go a bit experimental on LP8, I'm pretty sure there will still be one middle-of-the road, soft cheese fest on the album, which will harm our perception of it when it comes out. (I'd love to be proven wrong though)
  3. If I recall correctly he used to do them in some 2004 Muscle Museum performances? As far as I can tell those involved mucking around with weird descending triplets and stuff like that, so... E --13-------------------------------------------------- B -----12---13----------------------------------------15 etc. etc. G---------11---12---13--------------------15-------- D------------------11---12----13-----15------14---- A----------------------------11---12------14------13- E-------------------------------------11-------13----- all played very fast and jumping around the fretboard. Probably lots of random notes thrown in as well though, I might be very wrong. (Am shit at tabs lol, sorry)
  4. Agreed. When his pad broke in this performance from 2008 he was forced to pull out an improv solo that happens to be better (imho) than every single other SMBH solo ever (see 2:25 onwards). No pad next tour plz Matt!!! [YT] [/YT] Also just checked and I have around 15 different versions of SS live in my iTunes library. Love them all.
  5. Might do a longer one later, but for now, 2 from each gig attended: Psycho Bliss Muscle Museum Map of the Problematique Futurism Butterflies and Hurricanes Supremacy Citizen Erased Sunburn Assassin Knights of Cydonia Micro Cuts Stockholm Syndrome Take a Bow As someone who only saw Muse long after the BH&R tours, I've been very lucky.
  6. Here's how it should go down (worth a daydream...) Reapers Psycho New Born / Bliss / Plug in Baby (< "OOS single which is great live” slot) Dead Star / Micro Cuts / Assassin (<heavy rarity slot) The Handler Dead Inside Hysteria / MoTP (<older, fairly well-known single slot) Mercy Madness Supermassive Black Hole <BORING JAM TO GIVE MATT A BREAK> Citizen Erased / Butterflies and Hurricanes (<i don’t know what to call this slot) Sunburn / Apocalypse Please / Ruled by Secrecy (<piano slot, just please not FG even though I know it will be) Time is Running Out Futurism / Fury / Muscle Museum / Uno / Hyper Music (< really rare rarity slot) Uprising Stockholm Syndrome / Knights of Cydonia The Globalist Drones Overture / Take a Bow (<atmospheric (lol) encore opener slot) Starlight Knights of Cydonia / Stockholm Syndrome The casuals get their fill of singles, cheese and new stuff (in red), we get some juicy stuff too. 21 or 22 songs. Done.
  7. Once we got past "Muse should make their setlists more consistent and play a couple more rarities each night", which we did ages ago, there really hasn't been much to say on this thread (other than , or something)
  8. Should be 10pm GMT ish if I'm not mistaken? No idea about YT link though, the one above looks suspect... Also, is there really no vote for tonight? Would be funny (and terrible) if that one gig was literally it for polls and nice double rarities
  9. Some people seem to be really slamming this arena tour... I don't think it deserves all the criticism it's getting. On good nights I think there's been a better balance of deep cuts and hits than in the T2L and TR arena days. Sure it's not quite there with Werchter, and the gigs are too short, but these have still been great, for example: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/muse/2016/accorhotels-arena-paris-france-7bf0a6d8.html http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/muse/2016/mediolanum-forum-di-assago-assago-italy-53f14739.html http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/muse/2016/the-o2-arena-london-england-1bf189dc.html The inconsistency is of course the main gripe. They fail to meet these standards a lot of the time, and we randomly get setlists like this one: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/muse/2016/accorhotels-arena-paris-france-2bf0bcf6.html which wasn't even in the US. Of course we're not entitled to anything, but there's nothing wrong with pointing out that sets like the three above will probably please more people - including the band - than the set below.
  10. Matt's making some understandable points, if not ones that Muse have acted sensibly on in the past. Of course rarities aren't going to go down massively well in arenas compared with the hits, but that doesn't mean they should be limited to random small shows that few people can get tickets for, and which often aren't advertised as rarity-filled shows beforehand. And yes, fan votes won't produce rarities in the top spots... if they're put on Facebook, twitter or the website. So don't put them there. Keep them away from casuals as far as possible and see what happens. This might be an interesting night as far as Muse setlists go in the future. He's taking a lot of criticism and actually responding to it this time.
