Out of curiosity, how well does he do with his pronunciations? I'm no expert at French, though I do know Spanish pretty well.
I had to read the lyrics to figure out that it was (meant to be) French, and none of my friends or family members ever figured it out by themselves. The only thing that sounds French is the "sez-moi" in "versez-moi l'ivresse".
But most opera singers aren't better at it.

Exogenesis, UD, USoE, Uprising are great and Resistance, MK Ultra, US, IBTY are good.
-
WATU not being the studio intro to Uprising
Oh yeah, that too.

Showbiz:
Best: Matt's singing (voice cracks and screams as Jobby said) is very sincere and emotional. Sunburn, Muscle Museum, Cave, Showbiz and Uno (and HTAILY?) are still among the very best songs Muse have put out, and the immaturity of the other tracks is just cute.
Worst: That cover. Eww.
Origin of Symmetry:
Best: Unique, crazy and every song is at least a 9/10.
Worst: PIB with the longer bridge and the triplets would have been better.
Absolution:
Best: Massive. Doesn't even look pale in comparison to the great OoS.
Worst: The production at times, the lack of EM and Fury (TSP and TOADA should have been b-sides).
Black Holes & Revelations:
Best: Electronic Muse is a win. TaB, SMBH, MOTP and KOC are monuments in their discography.
Worst: Too much wasted potential.
The Resistance:
Best: Logical continuation from BH&R, mostly good/great songs.
Worst: Terrible tracklisting and the production is too clean.
The 2nd Law:
Best: Matt's vocals, although he doesn't sing on the best track of the album.
Worst: Lack of inspiration; Save Me.
Drones:
Best: The sound as Tjet coined it. Some really good songs.
Worst: The idea of going backwards.

A bit less loud and right in your face isn't it?
Edit: and I do think it sounds better (clearer) pitched-up.
Edit 2: Listening to it again, you're probably right. I think it's just the louder guitar and the extended solo covering his voice that alleviate the "listen to me singing high notes" impression.

This is cool. I kind of like what they did to his voice (not 100% sure about the harmonies in the chorus and a bit too distant in the last bit but still).
-
Don't forget that they will play Showbiz in Paris.

-
I would still love a studio recording of SOTT.
-
I'd forgotten Jobby's posts need to be toned down these days.

What new single?

T2L Arena tour was awesome in general but I really remember Uprising being a highlight. One of these moments when the band and the audience, hardcore and casuals fans, come together. There's room for singing, screeming, "hey!"ing, there's the heavy outro... That was a great live song.
-
Guitarless Uprising is shit but I've seen it twice on T2L tour and thought it was a great encore opener (and the visuals were cool during both the Arena and the Stadium tour). It's one of these songs that both hardcore and casual fans seem to enjoy, and it gets the crowd singing.
-
Starlight without guitar > Uprising with it.
Now, now, don't overdo it.
-
I'm willing to accept the idea that T2L is experimental in the context of Muse (though they have done stuff before that was more interestingly experimental), it's just that it's mostly bad experimenting.
-
Off the top of my head there are time signatures variations in Hoodoo, Assassin, Unnatural Selection, Butterflies & Hurricanes (the bridge), I think Micro Cuts (the verses) too.
-
What most of us are saying isn't that Muse outright sucked after BH&R. It's more about them not having a strong direction and falsely trying to reinvent themselves by trying a bit of everything as one-shots instead of digging deeper on other aspects of their music (typically T2L). There are still songs that I like, but it feels different. When I think of T2L, I rate it as perhaps their worst album; but when I think about the individual songs on the album, I really like most of them (Madness, PS, Survival, FM, Animals, Uns, IS and possibly Supremacy). Still, as an album I find it to hard to listen to, even the good songs. That's entertaining, but Muse gave me so much more than entertainment that I can't settle for that and be happy with it.
That being said, I believe that TR was a logical and flowing continuation from BH&R, it's just that BH&R took a small turn that wasn't EXACTLY what most of us would've liked best, but if you accept BH&R as it is, then TR isn't out of place imo. And that's one of the reasons why I'm more indulgent towards TR than T2L or Drones. TR might not be my favourite album (though it does have songs that I love), but I'm okay with that because I feel I understand where they were going and I can see its logic. It is legitimate in Muse's discography, unlike T2L.

Hullabaloo has a bit of that but yeah, I agree with all you guys have said. And they were really close to continuing that perfect sequence with BH&R, it only took a few bad decisions.

KoC is in the top tier of BH&R and of their whole discography tho.
