Yeah and there's falsetto in TIRO
-
Is a gig without piano and falsetto really a Muse gig?
-
Dom pretending to sing the backing vocals has to be their most ridiculous idea after the NKOK playback.
-
The gig started off really strong but the middle section is problematic.
-
Undisclosed Desires sounds rather cool these days. Falsetto-less gig though.
-
I've listened to the proshot Dig Down and also crowd versions and it really is hugely underwhelming live, or at least appears to be from the videos. It also strikes me as a terrible opener too.
Also, that proshot gratuitously shows off the amount of playback involved .
My impression was that they cut down on playback? What are you refering to?
-
I think they might also see being part of a bigger bill where people aren't necessarily paying just to see them as freeing them up a bit with regards to pleasing casuals 100%. Maybe that festival crowds are more open to having a good time and getting into songs as well, whether they know them or not. It's twisted logic but I guess that'd be Muse for you.
Seems mad that so many of us were actually looking forward to the arena tour and naturally expecting it to be even better.
Yeah Matt has said multiple times that they feel that festivals give them more freedom than regular tours.
-
Forced In, Minimum, Nishe, Liquid State, riffage, old jams but please not a fucking playback of Matt. How could they even think that was a possibility? That's unbelievable. And that no one around them stood up to bring them back to earth.
-
I'll admit I only watched the vid that was the latter part of the song, but it really did sound mimed. Maybe I just assumed because the "woah" bits are.
And yeah, these places make them do the instruments that way and they just go along with it for the money now. Those things can be big bucks for low effort.
The woah bits are sung to my ears. Perhaps recorded live beforehand but they definitely sound different from the record.

I mean this is literally Madness except it's shit.
-
It's shit. A poor man's Madness.

It'd be nice if we had a banter section for this purpose
-
Pretty much.
Without changing the songs themselves, the only songs I'd be interested in hearing Matt's younger vocals on would be The Handler, Animals, Reapers and maybe Mercy, weirdly enough. Other than that, the styles just don't mesh imo. Liquid State recorded in '02 with Matt singing could've been a banger though.
Animals is pretty good as it is imo, but how I would love a less clean version of TH and Reapers both vocally and instrumentally.

New acoustic song to be played this summer confirmed.
-
We would slag it off if it came out today, but since older songs are not subject to the pressure of expectations and are taken for what they are, I kind of like it too.
-
It's entirely possible to enjoy the show and enjoy the hits for what they are (fucking great songs, at the end of the day) while simultaneously being somewhat annoyed you didn't get a rare song / album in full / etc. And it's very easy to post hyperbolic comments online about how shit they've been since 200x but actually; when you see them live, who gives a fuck? Even if it's a list full of songs you've already heard at least five times or whatever other metric you need to put on it, does it really matter? No. They're still fantastic. And that's why I drop the money on it.
Absolutely, but then I don't understand why you'd call that "the audovisual equivalent of flushing £90 down a toilet". Unless you have a really awesome toilet system.

Then why?

Drones isn't bad, it's just irrelevant in their discography.
Edit 1: like T2L
Edit 2: unlike TR
-
Matt solo acoustic piano gig in some lil venue:
Assassin - Prelude In G Minor bridge.
Now I'm aroused.
-
Not sure if it is objectively their biggest hit, but they see and treat it as such.
-
I can understand their playing their biggest hit as a closer, and I don't really mind. It just felt weird the first time because I wasn't expecting them to close with Starlight so I had this "huh? Is that it?" moment.

We Are The Universe is the best song of The Resistance era.
Additionally, it features Muse's best lyrics ever.

Haha yeah he's not even trying to hide it, barely moving his lips while the vocals are so emphatic.
