  1. where?

It's hard to pin it down and maybe it's a bit far-fetched but upon hearing it for the first time the first riff reminded me of CS because they're both light and "funny" riffs, which is unusual for Muse, and the 2nd, heavier riff somehow reminded me of early CS's main riff.

  2. Don't tell me that you can resist singing these aaaaeeeeeaaaaah because I wouldn't believe you.

Edit: I also can't really feel the Abso vide but it totally sounds like a song from BH&R and we know Matt confuses these two eras a lot so maybe that's where his comparison comes from

  3. Yeah Animals doesn't really present much of a challenge, vocally.

A little gutted we'll likely never see Follow Me again, his vocals were a real highlight of that song live. Can't see Panic Station popping up all that much in future either, lots of A4s (I think?) throughout.

G4s not A4s but the song is mostly exhausting because it leaves little room for breathing I think.

  4. I don't mind additions. A live gig and its recorded version will never be the same experience and a dvd will never capture the true liveness of the moment; even unaltered footage of the gigs I went to feel completely different from what I saw. So I'm okay with them using what a polished release can offer to enhance it (assuming the sfx do but that's another debate).

I suppose that theoretically this argument could extend to vocal overdubbing but I do mind it so I guess altering the performance itself is problematic, but altering the wrapping isn't to me.

The tricky part is not to make it a false promise or advertisement of the gigs, but since it's being released after the tour this isn't really an issue here.

  5. Flow: Drones

    Production: Absolution

    Mixing/mastering: Drones

    Lyrics: Absolution

Song-wise, Drones doesn’t hit the level of Stockholm, Butterflies, Apocalypse, RBS or Endlessly but it’s more consistently solid/enjoyable imo. It only really falls apart for the last two tracks and has a wee wobble with Mercy. Abso’s wobbles are frequent, just more in terms of mood/tone than quality. Individually, S4A, FAWY and Blackout are decent songs but, in the context of the album, they bring the momentum to a sudden dead stop and jerk you in another direction so I can’t enjoy them. Then you’ve obvs got a few meh tracks filling out the rest of the album like TOADA, TSP and TIRO.

If Abso flowed, like at all, and the band had made better choices w/ what did and didn’t make the cut, it’d probs wipe the floor with Drones.

Edit: it’d still probs be a way off BH&R and OOS for me though
