I don't get those comments about "at least is better than what's on the radio". Like, is that your standard for music, or just for Muse? Because there's a lot of middle ground. It's not like just because you don't like Dig Down you have to go straight to the radio.

Except you clearly don't spend any time here since you missed that the general consensus here when T2L was released was that it was better than The Resistance, and that the tour was one of the best they had done in a long time. Then Drones came and that got mixed reactions. The Handler and Reapers were universally loved, Dead Inside was loved by loads of people, Psycho had a lot of fans even though many considered it to be too long, and people were anticipating the live debut of Defector for months. And it's kind of hypocritical to come here to complain about negativity, only adding to it. It happens at every release. A third is love, another third is hate, and the final third are people hating on the hate. Because that sure solves the problem. All you're doing is adding to the negative vibe you're experiencing. Come with some positivity instead of you wanna make a change. Or did you just come to whine, like those you're accusing?

What is the alternative? How are we supposed to judge music if not with our personal tastes? You just seem bitter that not everyone feels the same way you do.

Honestly the song was what I expected...only less original. Like I thought the song would sound kinda like it does, but with a synthwave-feel to give the impression of at least trying something new. This is just Madness but duller.

New song in August possibly, then another in December. That's what the plan back when the interview took place at least.

Does it? I listen to a lot of modern pop and honestly Matt has always been far off modern pop. RnB today isn't cheesy vocal harmonies and Queeny guitar solos. I feel like this is the sort of music Matt wants to write, but clearly doesn't manage to:

It's in the same tier as Revolt imo. Matt really needs to stop it with the multioctave vocal layers. He has no idea how to make it interesting. In fact it seems like a card he plays WHEN something isn't interesting. It's not helping. Oh and the payoff is pretty much nonexistent.
