  1. So I was gonna sit in and binge on Better Call Saul tonight but ended up last minute grabbing a standing ticket. Got some thoughts Had a quick gander through some of the comments here, surprised to see so much negativity regarding the setlist (here we go), like expected a bit for FG, but overall was a pretty solid set no? Map, SS, TAB. I'm not walking away like "oh my god that set was amazing" but I'm definitely not walking away dissapointed. The stage and production really is something else, was worth the price I paid just for the spectacle. Those orbs are a lot bigger than I realised as well. Would kind of like to see it from up in seating just to be able to see all of the stage. So much to take in. Tried to listen out for what some people have been complaining about with the mix. I thought it was fine for the most part, although one thing that people may be referring to which I found really annoying which happened in almost every song, but I'll use Uprising as an example...So it kicks in, loud bass, in your face, like ooft. Then when Matt's vocals come in for the verse you can hear and almost feel the sound engineer sliding the fader down on the bass (and guitars in other songs) to make way for the vocals, and it really takes something out of the songs. Like yeah you get a bigger kick in the heavy riffs and choruses, but it just feels like too much, it takes some of the energy out. Speaking of energy. That was a tame crowd enit. I didn't see one pit. A few people jumped in some songs. Just in Reapers though I counted all the phones I could see directly in front of me that were being held up. There were 21 (I was in standing as well). Also it was quite an old crowd as well (which I guess lends itself to not being so rowdy). Like I normally feel one of the older ones in a lot of gigs I go to now. Barely saw any kids/teens around, but was surrounded by late 20s/30s/40s. Not saying anything bad about those ages, just found a surprising lack of younger folk. Also had some bloke stood right beside me who every song sounded like he was trying to audition for The X Factor or something. It's a no from me. That post ended up longer than I thought. Gig was good though, worth seeing. But just the once
  2. People that are complaining about the mix, where are you guys standing? Not doubting the work of their audio crew as they're obviously professionals at the top of their game and the ArrayCalc software is insane, but then a few people have mentioned the same thing. Is it mainly standing folk or seating as well? Near or far from stage etc
  3. I don't hear anything, maybe it sounds slightly different as he doesn't quite time the tap with the treadle still moving? I think his other finger is in that position because of the way he olds the pick/tucks it under his middle finger
  4. Nah I mean after the Weezer chord bit, like it doesn't just repeat those same chords, instead it works it's way through different variations of those chords up the neck, kinda like Dead Inside as well EDIT: This looks p good https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/m/muse/mercy_ver5_tab.htm
  5. Ah shit yeah. Mercy must be pretty easy. Are there decent tabs of that? It progresses away from power chords a bit Asked this in GG&T, did anyone get the tab book (and fancies being cheeky?)
  6. I imagine Defector would be quite easy Dead Inside can't be too tricky, still haven't worked out/found a decent tab though. The Handler is alright though
  7. I didn't get a ticket for the London dates but as per usual a few days before I'm quite tempted to get some. I'm not sure what would tip me over the edge, them playing some proper rare songs tonight or them playing a shit setlist (which surely means that it gets the shit out the way?)
  8. It's pretty alright, Did end up working a 25 hour day that day though, took a little too long at the end. Everyone should check out Moderat though, they are so fucking good. I can never really deal with lighting, one day I'll learn. Just bring a Manson or 10, put them on stage, no audio, just let people look at them #GroupPhoto
  9. Having said what I just said a few posts ago, I like KoC as main closer and would rather see SS or Reapers seeing as it's the Drones tour closing main set, which doesn't leave any convenient space for Survival really. Oh well. It's never coming back anyway. Assassin etc etc
  10. Well last gig I was the guy that had to deal with an absolute shitpile of cables as the band arrived late and wanted monitors moved from one side of stage to the other and had a different FOH/Monitor split situation than expected and we didn't have enough looms with us so ended up having to use something like 30 individual XLRs. Must have spent 2-3 hours solid that night coiling fucking cables. That and setting up and watching the loudspeaker amps. Basically I'm there to patch shit and fondle the touring Monitor guys balls to make sure he's happy I imagine they'll just hire it out from whatever's your nearest PA company. 'Stuff' sounds suspect. Is it racket?
  11. I don't think over at least the past two album cycles they ended up recording anything except the album tracks (or at least I got that impression from stuff they've said). I think they whine it out in pre-production just writing the tracks they want to make the album then go to the studio to record them
  12. Aside from small bar shows I don't have experience running, but I work as a sound/system tech. What's your role at the festival? (And what fest?)
  13. Anyone had any experience with modifying a Bigsby to replace the shitty pins by drilling holes to thread the string through instead? Sick of how tedious it makes restringing Jazz
  14. Earpeace earplugs are cheap and decent. Handy container, slightly muffles but still decent quality. I always have a set on my keyring as a backup for when I don't have my proper set
