I have a gas for a maxon od820. Internally running at 18v for more headroom, opamp filters for warmer lower end, and the drive acts as a blend between clean and dirty tone so turned down its just a good clean boost. Might be worth a look?

out of interest would you recommend creamery? Not heard of them before
I think jaeameaz got p90s from them before and said they were decent. He's bought everything from everyone at some stage or another.
-
Yeah I got some bleed from the stencils cos I had the feed level a bit too high on the printer. Still, not too bad, the bleed is kinda nice. The guy I built it for said "it makes it look more authentic." He's planning on gigging with it early in May. Awesome!
-
Yeah I'm also planning on a spring reverb driven by triodes and pentodes pretty soon. But I've a few more builds to get through first.
-
what kinda pedal is it?
Transformerless 12AU7 based preamp. Think super duper 2in1 but with tubes. Still gives 150V to the tube, but runs on a normal 9v DC power supply. Gives good clean boost, but turned up gets crunchy and vintagey.

Hmmm... I wonder would it be worth your while to check the output of them and try get something similar? I'm still dying to get my hands on a set of qtuners, but I'm not good at differentiating good or bad toans from basses. If their bass pickups sound half as good as their guitar ones, might be worth a look.
-
If they're stock, you might be able to get the details from the manufacturer. Are you thinking about upgrading them?
Also, finally finished this last night. Going to be putting it through its paces with the guy its built for at some stage over the weekend, so I might be able to get a little clip or two.

Looks great! From my experience of stenciling the 27//54, I think the stencils I made would probably only work for the larger text, like animated and bitmap. Not sure if that would be of any use to you.

Hahaha! My money's on it being a fuzz face variant

from istanbul
wait, are we talking about that "fucking brilliant" DI tone he discovered? or that other guy talking about the turkish fuzz pedal before the 7 string riff?
Not familiar with the song titles, so I have no idea what both of you are referring to.
Dark Cat pedals? Does the wooden cigar add toan?

Flogging Molly, Katzenjammer and Shantel are high on my photography list though
Yeah any of the more genuine DJs on that list who actually give a shit about more than screaming drug infested tweens with #SWAG on their t-shirts is going to be worth getting your lens out for.
In other news, this happened today.
I'm not entirely sure about it. I like the way it bleeds a little, but I think it looks more on the shit side than the good side. I dunno. Its not unlike what I was expecting but Im not sure what to make of the result.

Not the big ones, there's a week festival in my hometown (I'll be back for about 6 weeks this summer) and one nearby... probably no names of interest to you guys, but it'll be nice for taking photos.
I got to bassjackers, then threw up in my mouth a little.

For those of you who record/produce, using software to do piano tracks, any tips?
To be more specific, I'm using Ableton, no midi controller, and I'm aiming for an ambient sound ala baths/geotic?
-
Yeah I'm sticking with padboard for now. Although because I'm now stuck with dpdt switches, I have to revise the board for two millennium bypass controls. I'm not sure about led options on this. Its very tight so its either squeeze them in beside the switches or under the vent so the tube fakeglows when active. Thoughts?

Nuh uh. Where's the twiztty chayosz padzs for bzz bzz bzz?
-
I think it's a dodgy mash up of madness and that forgettable song with the clarinet solo.
-
Oh great. Looks like mine got to English customs and they decided to send it back to Thailand. Awesome work UK.
-
Ugh I'm so far off the pace with getting prototypes made. Although right now I'm fairly pissed off with tayda/Thailand post taking an age to deliver parts. They've been sitting in the uk for like a week now. I bet its their way of being all jealous and bitter about being shit at rugby.

#steak
wait, are you building three of these valve driven peddles?
yup. One for the guy I'm building it for, one for me, and another one. #wine

I'll probably be doing a wiring diagram for it as a spin-a-split this week. It'll end up with 2 pickups but with 1 tone, 1 volume, and instead of a pickup selector switch, another pot that blends from bridge to both. So the neck is only ever used when its paired with the bridge pickup

I can't see it being a problem, although I think for the most part it'll sound like a p90 guitar in middle position rather than a humbucker. Don't quote me on that, its just a hunch.
-
That's not unlike a setup I'm planning for my p90 guitar. I'm going to wire them like a humbucker with a coil split dial.
Also, hi James

Yeah that's fair enough, it had been playing me up at work all that day so hence my anger towards it, I tend to use AutoCAD a lot for quick 2D drawings where i don't want or need a 3D model. I just don't like it for 3D work I find it very limiting.
Your the second person to recommend using rhino for the bass neck, I guess I might have to learn yet another CAD program, oh well it's all good experience. I long for the day when someone makes a CAD program that is the best at everything I'm thinking K&T might need a guitar and kit CAD discussion thread
I'm not great at modelling in rhino to be honest, but I use it with grasshopper for projects where we're designing parametric architecture. Its tricky to get your head around, but if you send me a pm on Monday evening, I can send you a link to an amazing set of tutorials on YouTube. I used them and I learned to model in grasshopper in about a week or two.
Lol the case factory emailed me regarding my ... ehh... measurements?.. Made no sense to them, so they'll do it themselves, however I fear the board will become ... large ... XXXL:(I kinda feel for the factory. Like I said, nothing beats a properly dimensioned drawing.

That looks great and your completely right about sketch up not being great for dimensions, I use sketch up, AutoCAD, Inventor, solid works and catia and not a single one of them can do everything, I always think for buildings and general representation of large systems sketch up is great. Solid works is the best for small 3D parts and AutoCAD is crap at everything
Still need to figure out how best to draw up a short scale bass neck
I agree with some of that. AutoCAD is excellent when you use it to its full potential. In the firm I'm with, I end up having to use a lot of different software, depending on the project. So I'll use a combination of AutoCAD, Sketchup (with either lumion or vray for rendering), Rhino with Grasshopper, and I'm just starting on Revit.
For the bass neck, I'd be inclined to suggest rhino, but its not the easiest to learn.

i had a go of some of the mooer stuff in xmusic a while back. The thing I've found with those cheaper brands is that they can be hit and miss from one pedal to the next. That being said, Mooer seem to have waaaay more good pedals than bad ones. I've my eye on a few of their things and I wouldn't be disappointed by them. Best bet is to look at the reviews, but as far as cheaper pedals go, they seem to be considerably better than most. my €0.02
