  1. Nope. They really are a lot worse than anything on Showbiz.* Especially Madness. And I'm just not a big fan of B&H. I quite like it. It's epic live. The piano solo is awesome. But I just don't like the vocals and really hate the cringe-worthy lyrics. So it's dragged down to good for me. Not that far away from being a track that I really like, but it's flawed. *Or at least, I don't dislike any tracks on Showbiz. Even the ones which aren't great I like and find kind of funny and charming. I cannot say the same for the tracks I've put in red. They all either bore me or set my teeth on edge.
  2. I think all of those tracks are good! Hence my colour coding system! Green = Love it - Really like it Orange = Like it - It's ok Red = Not a fan of - Hate it EDIT: And the order generally shows whether they're close to rising or falling into another category!

  4. Forget about the tone, wtf is going on with the way it's played atm? It simply has no energy whatsoever. It's far too slow, has no kick to it, and sounds almost jaunty. When they started to play it slower around BH&R (which I was personally against) then at least they used to make it heavy. It just sounds weak as hell there.
  5. Best bass riffs would be fun. If difficult! Where would you draw the line? For example, does the New Born riff count for both guitar and bass, or is the bass just supporting the guitar, making it not a stand-alone 'bass riff'? But it would let the bass riffs in the verses of Bliss and Hyper Music get the praise they deserve, for starters!
  6. I included it for the guitar riff in my list! The bass riff would move it into my top 5, but the guitar riff is still pretty cool on its own.
  7. New Born > Stockholm Syndrome > Dead Star > Fury > Plug In Baby > MOTP > Yes Please > SMBH > Citizen Erased > Agitated > Hyper Music > Micro Cuts > Knights of Cydonia > Assassin > Hysteria > MK Ultra > The Groove > Unnatural Selection
  8. And that pretty much sums up why I currently have no plans to ever go to a Muse gig again. Especially for £40+.
  9. From the songs I've seen them play live (which doesn't include this tour), in rough order: Awesome: Citizen Erased Stockholm Syndrome New Born Hysteria Bliss Plug In Baby Knights of Cydonia The Small Print Space Dementia Showbiz Hyper Music Micro Cuts Map Of The Problematique Sunburn Supermassive Black Hole Butterflies and Hurricanes Muscle Museum MK Ultra Forced In Ok: Feeling Good Uprising Take A Bow Apocalypse Please Assassin Sing For Absolution Hoodoo Ruled By Secrecy Unintended Thoughts Of A Dying Atheist Glorious Starlight Blackout United States of Eurasia City of Delusion Unnatural Selection Exogenesis (Part 1) Poor/Shit: Endlessly Invincible Soldier's Poem Resistance Undisclosed Desires Guiding Light
  10. Permission granted. Carry on sergeant major.

  11. MAGIC.

...A while ago really. In the Biffy thread after you went to see them. But arriving back post-Lottie's party with a head full of rum, I felt this needed to be stated!

  12. By the way, FOUND!

  13. Legolas by Laura has to be the best film I've seen all year.

In other news, I'm going to Cuba in 2 days! :awesome:

  14. Depends somewhat what you mean by "dark". In rough order, I'd say: Hyper Chondriac Music Spiral Static Forced In Micro Cuts Ruled By Secrecy Megalomania Showbiz Fury Citizen Erased Screenager Recess Space Dementia Apocalypse Please
  15. No costumes?! What's your new job?

  16. Drama Society party! The theme is "what went wrong". I'm dressing up as a Jurassic Park tour guide in a ripped and bloody shirt. Bought an official Jurassic Park patch for it last week (like THIS)! :awesome:

    What are you doing?

  17. I know! Luckily they're both lovely. First reaction was "oh dear", but that was quickl'y followed by: "Aww! they're such a sweet couple!" They are awesome people. And we shall play QUICHITCH!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZW_dwd_WJY

Quite obviously the best bit of the entire series. :yesey: Now I'm doing the Volde-orgasming noise with the hug. Helen's getting quite afraid.

I'm wondering whether to try and see Arctic Monkeys. They're playing Cardiff, but on my birthday. And whilst I do like them, do i really like them enough/more than my birthday?

  18. Neither do I. They weren't going out when we moved in! But it only took them 2 weeks to hook up. Hopefully it won't make things difficult down the line. They are both lovely people though! They helped me invent Quichitch. Which is like Quidditch, but messier and played in a park with quiches. The beaters shall be given eggs and a whisk. We are so cool.

The Joy Formidable are from Wales! :awesome: Glad they're making headway. I'd like to hear them go full out weird on their second album! Their first is very good though. Lots and lots of riffs. :yesey:

    You bet it is!

Voldehug! I've been giving Helen lots of Voldehugs since seeing the film. It's disturbing her.

  19. 3 others. And 2 of them are going out. As of last night. This could get interesting. And we don't need bouncy castles. Our beds are quite bouncy enough. I blame the wine. This house is sighing sex already.

It's pretty bad in the UK in general. Especially in the cities. It's pretty much orange day and night out there, and this is one of the smallest cities here. Why?

They didn't get that big over here! A small success, but not massive. Which is a shame as they are very good. Are they getting big in the US?

Yep, our uni has a Harry Potter Society: http://ministryofmuggles.org I have seen it now! And I was very pleasantly surprised! I thought it was light-years better than the other films. All 3 of them could finally act well! I know Grint has been acting well for a couple now, but Daniel Radcliffe?! My god... It was brilliantly shot and edited too, with some French cinema-esque stylised flourishes. There were still some random laughs though! Cinema started to titter at Snape's. Bizarre. Opening. Speech. With pauses. You could. Drive. A. Bus. Through. Then later laughed at Voldemort's random laugh to himself when declaring Harry dead, and laughed even more a second later when he gave Malfoy a confusingly out of character hug.

  20. Then put those faces back in the jar where they belong. It is a fun house. There will be many a fancy dress party in these walls. For a proper zombie you're looking at £100 worth of rum because of all the varieties involved. Although we would get many zombies out of them!

I unstitched it from Cardiff's patchwork night sky.

. Which is a good description! 3 incredibly abrasive guitars, 1 bass, 1 keyboard, 1 drum kit, 1 drum machine, and vocals all turned to maximum volume, and then the venue decided to amplify all of it to maximum rather than bother with sound levels. I've rarely seen a room empty so quickly! I of course stood right at the front for the whole set with a dedicated group of noise lovers and flailing madmen waving around bags of Class A drugs and shouting "LOUDER!" Not that you could hear them over the noise. I loved it! But then again I am hardcore. And deaf.

Wooo! Finally left El Paso then. You'll need to bring me some new sand. I probably won't see Potter till Monday, as that's when Helen is free, and she is in the University Harry Potter Society. She's a Hufflepuff. She's a particularly good finder. (Have you seen

    ?!)

Mobiliarquiche! Or we could play a broomstick borne game of Quichitch! :awesome:

  21. Hello! I'm not dead. Just resting. My new flatmates (in my new beautiful house) are keen on my idea of zombies in china teapots! Problem is it will be expensive. Especially buying the 151% proof rum. It's a good house. I have a fabric comet:

We've started a house blog (not my idea, but i'll run with it). And I've made a POST! This is my achievement of the week. Along with being deafened by the loudest band I've ever seen, and making a cool PDF of one of the rare medieval "rymes" i'm reading for my thesis. YEAH COOL. No one can tell me otherwise!

HOW ARE YOU? Have you seen Harry Potter yet? EDIT: I see you're a mod now! How did that happen? Don't they know you'll go Voldemort power-crazy!?!

  22. I'm cooking a dinner party tomorrow night. Seem to have spent the entire day shopping. I'm going to make:

Starter - Mushrooms topped with melted goat's cheese, on toasted ciabatta and pea shoot salad.

Main Course - Roasted peppers stuffed with spiced beef, served with couscous and a drizzle of humous.

Dessert - Some kind of French tart, if I can find one tomorrow!

  23. Have you seen The Adventures of Baron Munchausen? It's my other favourite Terry Gilliam movie, and there is quite a lot in common between them! I absolutely love it. Them.

Zombie! Best cocktail ever. The one at Buffalo Bar here has recently put a restriction on it, so you can only buy 2 per night. Which is sad, as before that me and Johannes used to drink around 4-6 a night. Depending on the night. :awesome: EDIT: Whoa! Reading the "history" section I see a limit of two is common: "The restaurant limit of two Zombies, therefore, would be the equivalent of 7 regular cocktails such as a Manhattan or Scotch on the rocks."

    Partying is good. :yesey:
