  1. Yup, there's hope. But I thought this would be easy, presale ánd 9:00 ready to go.

I know, it went fairly easy for me, although I did panic a bit when it was 9:01 and the Ticketmaster site wouldn't load. It sucks that even though you come prepared, you can end up with nothing.

Unfortunatly the Pre sale for Ziggo Dome started today at 9am (according to Ticketmaster site) instead of 10am (according to Muse site) :(

Really?? So I presume those were sold out already too...

  2. The stage will be centered. See Cologne for example.

Belooft wat moois voor de Ziggo!!!

I know, I mean in which directions the two walkways will go. Mostly because the Ziggo Dome has one side (let's say north) without any seats, so there's three sides where people can sit. Does this mean they will have the two walkways from west to east, or from north to south? Depending on the case, I'd want a different seated spot.

Edit: Okay so it's as I thought: The stage walkways extend on one side to where normally the stage is (now there are spots for disabled there), and on the other side to the back of the arena.

    I've got tickets for area 110 :D

  3. No, this one. :)

I even did the labels. By the way, in case it wasn't resolved, I used a Brother P-touch label maker. Also available with White on Black ribbon.

Looks very nice! Shouldn't the hi and lo stickers be the other way round though? Always thought Bellamy had his Lo for the regular sustain and the Hi for the Harmonic mode. Or is the Sustainiac switch just reversed as compared to the Fernandes sustainers?

    Anyways, looking very good!

  4. I dunno, I assume they want to keep it for the actual arena gigs. I think that's fine, however in that case they shouldn't have brought [JFK] to the festival as a prelude to... Uprising.

  5. I don't notice it too much, except in the Reapers live chorus (where he tries to do it, but doesn't even make it to the note and ends up sounding flat)

This performance contains one of his most obvious examples of sliding up to a note in the final chorus, and it sounds absolutely epic:

.. but I appreciate that's not quite the same as what you're talking about.

Haha no, that's not what I meant. This is intended, he's singing purposefully directed notes. Sounds fantastic.

What I meant is just... cheating, I guess.

  6. I think it's a great song, but yesterday I was thinking that there should be some kind of rough, dark interlude to represent what happens after Revolt and before Aftermath. There needs to be some kind of punch for aftermath to have a greater effect. I guess what I'm saying is that the songs around Aftermath need to be better/different to showcase Aftermath's greatness.

I agree, that way Aftermath could actually be... an Aftermath.

  7. Okay, so this has been bothering me for quite some time now.

I noticed that over the last years (I think starting from around TR's release) Matt's vocal delivery has changed, and not only in the way that it deepened or got weaker/stronger. I'm referring to the way Matt approaches his notes (so the beginning of a phrase) and how he ends them. Especially evident on Drones (album), Matt really tends to 'slide' up to the note instead of instantly hitting it. Also when ending a note/word, he slides back down with his voice.

He not only does this live (for example I noticed he does it in Uprising when singing "We will be victorious"), but also on albums (for example The Globalist: "...great, nation, we were"). There are numerous other examples, although mostly from live performances; just put on any recent gig and you'll notice it.

I really don't like the way it sounds. It sounds like he's putting too much pressure on reaching a note, suggesting that he's really struggling to do so. However when one assumes that this is not the case (having difficulties), I think it still just sounds... amateuristic? I'm in no way a professional regarding singing or anything, but I believe being able to immediately hit a note is one of the basic things to do.

Anyway, I'm aware Matt has done this for a very long time, or perhaps even since Showbiz, but I think it has increased a lot and now it's starting to bother me.

Any thoughts on this matter? Does it bother anyone else?

  8. Not sure, he might use it during Mercy too. It's not necessary or anything, but just might make the chorus a tad easier.

Also I think he might use in it Mercy right before/into the last chorus (after the bridge), during the 16ths on the snair. So both bass pedals and snair simultaneously.

  9. His mic is probably noise gated. Basically means that the mic cuts off and/or softens when the volume going into it falls below a certain level.

Why would he need to practice playing a simple riff while mumbling a simple wordless melody? Makes no sense.

Because the timings of the guitar riff and vocal melody conflict each other. It's actually pretty tricky to do both simultaneously, even though easy when done apart.

  10. Anyone who's been there the whole weekend? Besides all the Dave Grohl-talk, there's been a lot of complaints about the crowd. Was it really that bad? I was at Pinkpop a few years ago and it was a weird mix people you don't expect at festivals, but that was when they struggled with selling tickets so that's not really representative.

If the crowd wasn't dead during a few songs when Muse played, that might be pretty good compared to what I've heard about other acts.

EDIT: Rather off-topic - regarding the Foo Fighters cancellation: too bad the organization is spreading weird stuff like "compensations because of annulations don't exist at any festival in the world." That's not true at all. Communication should be done by the company behind this festival, Jan Smeets is really good at responding with this kind of nonsense in interviews.

I was there the whole weekend. It is true the crowd sucked sometimes but I think that it's Dutch nature. People only really dance and go nuts when they're really big fans. Lots of the time they just stand and listen, however while still enjoying it!

I dunno, sometimes I wish I lived in the UK or something. It's so great to be in a crowd that really goes nuts, and the artists appreciate it as well.

  11. but why do you need depth? why cant a song just be for enjoyment?

twist and shout doesnt have any depth and if it had depth it would make it a worse song

Oh, and isn't Twist and Shout about dancing? Hardly a theme requiring depth.

  12. you say cringey i say it is loose and raw. its a matter of how you look at it. The whole sing has this whole loose and free feel which reflects the whole defecting idea i guess if you wanna over analyse. kinda reminds me of the space dementia verses in a way

I get that, but it sounds so... unnecessary? I don't know, feels like it doesn't fit with the feel of the verse at all: very toned down as compared to the chorus, only a slow bassline and simple drums.

I find it hard to explain
