He was during the second part of the solo. Not during the second tapping section, or the first part of the solo. The whammy flourishes were happening and he wasnt near his board.

Just a bright cap mod of some kind to smooth out the ovd a bit. I'd never heard of it either, but it does sound bloody good. Once I get it i'll pop it open and take gutshots

Theres a synth playing some kind of arabic lead-line in the background of the Freedom riff at the end. Live, Bellamy plays it briefly on guitar just before the riff starts
