"Trashy" isn't a negative term at all and compared to the clinical production of the last few albums, OOS with it's raw, "live" approach can seem "trashy" in comparison.

Since when does synth equal mainsteam music anyway? taking away the synths doesn't make them original.

 

I think people's first exposure to synthesizers these days is through commercial pop music and have become associated with the "clean" production style that goes with commercial music.

 

I find it bizarre because to me, rock & metal sounds tame. Thanks to Aphex Twin, bastard.
