Once a gif's loaded all you do is get the properties of the gif by right-clicking and going to properties (no idea how you do it on a mac), it tells you the file dimensions and size. The graphic equaliser and the rocket should both be okay size-wise, the other two are definitely too big. Sig images need to be smaller than 500x195px, and smaller than 256kb file size. Otherwise they'd take forever to load for some people, that first one you posted was 6mb! Imagine trying to load that on a not particularly fast connection, it slows the whole page load down.
