cheddatom
In that second picture you seem to have captured the rounded edges much better - much less sharp
hooglebug
back of the gt strangely, before i did this, the tap tone on this one was brighter than the burst, and after, its darker. odd. we'll see if the burst tone darkens after doing the same to that trying to get a decent pic of the carve on this one. its near impossible

JimboMansonMB-1
Pics of the painted Goldtop? Hoogle, how much are you asking for that one?
hooglebug
its not even sanded yet so no paint either. its gonna have to wait till the weather warms up a bit before any painting can happen. i was just doing a test mix. might spray a little test piece over the weekend to see how it looks and price wise the goldtop would run at about £1900
hooglebug
just a test. its really hard to take pictures of it, but it looks really nice. it'll be a while before its on a guitar though, far too cold!

zooropa1310
Definitely scratch plate! I think that soft white/ivory creme is beautiful
zooropa1310
Especially if you did some etching in it
Lexical_Whale
No on both but double no on the goldtop. Sort of works on the burst but it definitely looks better without.
Guest Batman.
I'd say no on the burst, but yes on the goldtop. Goldtop looks too bare without it, I think.

hooglebug
i think im going to have to finish them both then make a plate and just see what it looks like. im too unsure either way to drill any holes
cheddatom
If you just blue-tack them on you could leave it up to the customer The gold top does look weird without one though
hooglebug
yeah im thinking just leave it and then if someone buys one i can put it on if they want it
IntelligentAl
I would say yes on the goldtop if it were a better shape.
zooropa1310
I think it looks great as is, I'd definitely keep it. It needs to have it to complete that gold top vibe. There's a few gold tops that had an etched cream pickguard, I think your logo would logo or some other design would look great on it! Regardless, the shape compliments the upper horn well, very smooth. Also, do you know of any good books on inlay work?
hooglebug
the art of inlay by larry robinson is really good
